I'm still in the learning phase of candle making so there are things that I don't know how to trouble shoot yet. Every candle I have poured over the past 2 weeks is ending up with wet spots. I don't understand why. It doesn't matter if I pre heat the containers or not and I have tried pouring at different temps. Can anyone explain why this is happening.
Thanks

I put my wax in a plastic container to weigh it before adding it to the presto post. My question is.... okay it may sound stupid, anyway I need to add the weight of the container I am weighing my wax in to the total weight correct? Another words if my container weighs let's say 8.4 oz and I want a lb of wax then the scale should say 1 8.4oz. correct?

Ah so that explains it! I was beginning to think I was a moron because I didn't see anything related to PM's. Thanks Mizbizzyb! And yes holly has been extremely helpful.

Hi Holly,
Well you are the first I've come across that has used this container! I don't think many do. I had purchased some candles from Je T'aime and fell in love with the container (and her candles, great sig. scents and great cold and hot throw) I'm almost certain that she uses something other than C3 not sure what though being that I am only familiar with C3. I thought I would start out with the 10 oz. and when I got that down to a science I would move up to the 18 oz. I haven't had too much of a problem getting a full melt pool, my problem is not so good scent throw. I've only been testing the eco wicks, I have used 2 4's, 2 6's and 2 8's. the 6's seem to be best for full melt pool, but not the scent throw I would like and that's based on using different FO's at 6% per lb of soy. This wick thing is rather confusing! So I am on to the HTP's and if they don't work then to CD's I suppose. Tell, me were you getting a decent throw even though it took awhile to get the full melt pool?

Can anyone tell me what the percentage would be when using essential oils in soy candles?
Thanks

I don't have a pic at the moment but it is the 10 oz square footed container that Je Taime uses (u see it sometimes advertised here) it is 3.25" H x 3.33" diameter. Hope this helps.
Thanks

I would like to test the HTP in this container Early American Candle - Candle Supplies using C3 soy. Can anyone suggest which of these wicks I would use both ways single and double (not sure which way I want to go)
Thanks

Vicky,
Do you order directly from Anchor Hocking?

I suppose unique was a poor choice of words. Yes different is what I'm looking for.

mystical,
Do they have sample deals, buy so many 1oz. size at a discount price? Unless I missed it on their web site I didn't notice that they do.

has anyone used any of these FO's in soy candles? If so I would appreciate your comments.

Saopfreak,
Thanks for suggesting scent works and daystar, exactly what I was looking for

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm hoping not to have to blend myself, it's complicated enough smelling all the different ones and deciding on which ones to choose. By the way I am using C3 soy.

anyone using the 10 oz container like Je Tamie Fragrances with soy? If sow what wicks have been successful?

I just tested 2 eco 2 wicks in a square 10 oz container approx 3 1/2 diameter without dye or FO in C3 soy. I got a full melt pool in 2 hours. Would this be considered good? And how would it be affected with FO?
Thanks

I am getting into the candle business and I would very much like to carry unique scents not the typical fruits, florals etc. that can be found everywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions of unique Fo's or suppliers?
Thank you
Kelsey
