  1. That happened to me but mine was because I didn't seal the wick/screw hole with putty good enough. and 1/4 of my wax came out. What a mess. Randy
  2. Thanks for all the tips. Our place is a bit drafty and it did seem to cool quickly I'll have to make adjustments on my next attempt. Randy
  3. According to the information I received 4630 is supposed to be a single pour. But I guess a company will tell you anything just to sell a product.
  4. I just received some new wax for container candles. IGI-4630 Harmony Blend and I made my first candle with it but something happened. container: 16oz Mason Jar Wick: HTP-104(A4) Wax: IGI-4630 FO: Vanilla Bean I followed direction for the wax and I heat the jar prior to the pour. Everything looked good until several hours later. I noticed the center of the candle around the wick shrank slightly and a ring appeared around the wick once the next morning I test burned the candle and found out that underneath the surface there was a void. So I melted the candle and tried again and the same thing happened. What is happening? Randy
  5. My wick was #3 Square Braid And I was using Nature Soy wax P-1 Both products from Nu-Scents.
  6. The other day I made my first soy candle. it was a 3" Pillar. The candle is burning down the center leaving a 1/4" edge that is not melting. The edge is starting to crack and the wick is about 1 1/2" to 2" down. Also, after burning and it cools it gets white "frosting" or "flaking". What is that?
  7. Thanks! Atleast I know I didn't mess anything up. But, I'm not sure I like the color of the soy. I'll have to play around with it some more.
  8. I just started making candles and I started out with a stater kit from Peak's using Paraffin wax. I just bought some samples of soy wax and when I used the same dye with the soy that I used with the paraffin wax they look totally different. Is this common or did I mess something up. Also, when I melt the Paraffin wax it is clear, but the soy is a yellowish/gold color, it that correct? Help! Randy
  9. Welcome! My wife and I just starting making candles recently as well. I must admit that it's mostly me making the candle. I started out with Peak started kit and it worked great. Lot's to learn, keep reading. Randy
  10. Okay, I'm new to candle making and I have been looking very hard for the answer to this question. How do you test candles. I have been reading a lot of the posts and everyone is saying to test, test, test. Well how is this done. What do I test? I am looking at making container, pillar, and votive candles for myself, friends, and family. But, not sure what is exactly meant by testing. Thanks for your help, I want to make sure I understand before I make anymore candles. Randy
