  1. I just ordered 10lbs of IGI 2778 Palm Starburst Wax, a 3" dia x 4" h mold and a CDN starter pack with 5 of each wick cdn10-cdn22. Going to color green and add scent. What is the best size to start with? Thanks
  2. This would be good info. I would like to try out palm wax soon.
  3. Thanks for the info lindanelson It seems that candle science sells the same brand of palm wax that let it shine does. Can anyone verify this? Candle science has a page that states their concerns about the enviorment and finding a source that has a sustainable practice and does not lead to deforestation of our rain forests. I believe the brand of palm wax they sell is from IGI (same as let it shine). I could not find any claims on IGI's website as to the sustainable factor. (maybe i didn't ready enough) I would love to try some palm candles but do not want to contribute to the mess that has already been created. Anyone have any insight on this?
  4. I would like to find a supplier on the west coast or closer than Durham, NC to get a sustainable Palm Wax. (Candle Science) There is a lot of controversy over the palm oil market and they seem to have figured it out. They are across the country from me and the shipping is $45 for a $55 bag. Anyone on the west coast have a good source? Thanks
  5. Too bad there wasn't a grant we can get to cover the cost of R&D. HaHa:highfive: People keep bugging me to sell but I want everything to be right when that time comes. I think that testing will be an ongoing effort as long as we make candles.
  6. One of my apple scented candles that i made recently barely smelled at all the day i poured them. After 8 days it smells amazing! Time helps on some scents.
  7. I just started using this wax for votives. I use scent, no color. I bought 2 wicks to try out. GW28's and HTP 41N (self Centering). I like the way that the HTP 41's burn, but the self centering thing seems a bit crazy. Maybe i just don't understand how to use it properly. I got more mushrooming out of the GW28's. I think i will use the HTP's in the long run, just not the self centering version. :highfive:
  8. I use htp 105's in my 8 oz jars. Have you tried any other wicks to compare?
  9. I have not tested this, but have you used beeswax in your soy Kimmeroo? I see some other posts with people saying it makes it smoother w/ less frosting. Just wondering
  10. I love the creamy color too. I have been pouring 8 oz mason with EL Millennium, no dye and the tops seem to stay nice if I pour at 115, but any lower and im heat gunning the tops. Still need to see how the scent throw works out. Seems like most people that I have asked say they prefer a colored candle though.
  11. Will adding dye make me have to change the wick or FO %?
  12. I am just starting to test larger batches of candles and I was wondering a few things. I have been making most my candles dye free up to this point and want to try to do some color candles. I have tested a few scents that I will keep making and they both are at a 7% FO load. I have decided the wicks that work well in that mix. Will adding dye make a big difference in what size wick/FO % that I need? How does a typical testing phase go for most people?
