  1. I have been getting darker wavy lines in some of my candles....the line just looks like a darker shade of the color I am using to dye the candle. It is maybe 1/3 of an inch wide. It is never staight, always just a wave of sorts. I have pictures but I can't post. It has been appearing on a good share of the candles I have been making. I am using J223 with crisco. Jars are washed prior to and heated before pouring. Maybe I am pouring to cool.....145-150 degrees? Stumped!

  2. Thanks everyone for your responses. I have probably 3-4 dozen 16 ounce candles to melt (alot of work to salvage a .40 cent jar!) so I will probably try to warm them in the oven right side up and see where that gets me. In case your wondering how I could possible have that many bad candles....had some bad wax that I kept trying to play with and fix. Thanks again for the tips, I appreciate it.

  3. Does anyone have any slick tips on how to remove the wax out of full candle jars? My supplier is out of jars and I have a bunch of bad candles that I have been hanging onto forever so I thought I would use those jars to make my new candles. It seems like it might be a messy pain to get the wax out but I have orders to fill and don't won't to wait three weeks for my supplier to get their shipment in.

    Thanks-

  4. I have five cases of bad Joy Wax(cosmetically bad) that have been sitting in my basement for quite sometime. I have read quite a bit on this board about the wickless candles. Should I buy some tins and make some wickless candles? Is it really that easy? Just melt, mix fo and pour? How well do they sell? What is the best type of tin to use? Any advice?

  5. I am all hung up on a even steady flame and feel like I have failed because my wick flickers even though all the other aspects of the candle are working. Oh, I think I just need to lighten up. My customers have never commented on my flickery flame? OK, that sounds weird. I like the zinc wick the best so I don't know...is a flicker good or bad??? Technically I think it is suppose to be bad. :undecided

  6. Just wondering if anyone can get a zinc wick not to flicker? I have been testing, testing, testing and it seems to me that zincs just flicker. I have tested other wicks that don't flicker but keep coming back to zinc because it still seems to work the best even though it flickers. I am using J223 with 1.5 ounce fragrance. I do add Crisco but have tested the wax both ways, with and without it still flickers. I tried cutting fo load back but it still flickers, just didn't smell as good. Amount of dye doesn't seem to make a difference either. No smoking, great melt pool, wonderful hot throw..... it just flickers. What do you think?

  7. Thanks! I just placed my order yesterday. For the BNL scents I ordered Persimmon Spice, Olive Blossom, Pomegranate & Anise and Hayride. I am anxious to try them. I always use 1.5 ounces per pound so that is good to know about the Persimmon Spice.

  8. I get hung up easy on fo's with flashy names....here is what caught my eye with BNL.

    Cotton Blossom

    Lavendar Basil

    Persimmon Spice

    Warm Apple Pie

I am going to use straight J223. By the way, I normally use BCNs Hot Apple Pie but the review on BNLs Warm Apple Pie was so good I thought I might try it. Is BNLs Warm Apple Pie worth the extra money?

  9. Carole, you are the best! Thanks for your advice. You have helped me on more than one occasion and I appreciate it. I too have always been happy with BCN's regular fragrances. I think that I am just overwelmed right now with everything I have been reading and that there are just so many choicesl

    Have a good day!

  10. OK, pardon me while I whine a little. I have been making candles for almost eight years now. I have done what worked and my candles were great and sold well. I never had to do a lot of research and never really changed much besides fragrance offerings. The majority of my product I have always purchased from either BCN or NG.

So, I decided to change wax and jars this fall and have been testing since early August.....here it is end of September and I am just so confused, not to mention losing out on business. So, I think that today I finally made a decision on what wax I am going to switch to. I go to look at fragrances to purchase along with my wax and BCN has all these different brands now. That is great, right? Except I am confused about which brand to try. Help! I have always been happy with BCN's regular fragrance oil line, maybe I should just stick with that. Any advice?
