do you put this label on the bottom of the jar? Just wondering if that makes it dangerous since it is sitting on a heating pad.
Thanks!

I use a queen or king size sheet so that it hangs to the floor on both sides, then put a flannel back table cover on top. HTH!
what is the purpose of the flannel back table cover on top of the sheet? Doesn't the sheet cover the top of the table too?

very nice and creative!! Wow you did it all even the potpourie! good job!

Thanks miss mary for helping me think through this. You've brought up some very good points.

I can't answer your question. i've not used it but have researched it some. I"m curious though, do you think yours has gone bad? and if so what has it done?
-
Can't speak for Carrie, but one thing I would be worried about is liability issues. (Who knows if that stuff is made in China?) But seriously, liability would be my thing.
what about all the other liquid soap bases out there to buy?
-
I would not rebottle a retail product for resale.
Carrie would you mind explaining why you wouldn't? I would be adding fo and color. I"m not insistant on doing this myself, just wonder the pros/cons.
thanks,

Bitter Creek sells an unscented liquid hand soap base that you can scent & color(& an antibacterial gel base too).
I saw that on their site, but it is soo much more expensive!
-
Very nice hope they sell well for you over the holidays!

cool little fire starters, I've thought about making them, but haven't gotten around to trying it.

Anyone else do this? I buy the unscented hand soap at wally world and scent and color to use for myself. I love the variety of colors and fragrances i can have.
I've thought about selling this. Would there be any reason that I should not do this? Wouldn't it be just like buying a base from somewhere else? Am I the only one that does this or thought of selling it?
TIA

Thank you for your thoughts! I do what to want to clarify though I only use the 60 in the Warm N cozy which is a more spicy scent and had to wick up. I usually use 2 cd 14.

Thanks Stella...for your thoughts for me in the Power Burning Post in General Candle making section.
This has all got me thinking more about my power burning. I do power burn alot.
I use KY125, in the 10 & 16 oz Apothocary, no dye, and usually 1.5 oz. fo per lb, I use either 2 HTP 104's or 2 CD14 and for warm and cozy I use 2 60cotton in the 10 oz jar. In the 16 oz jar, with the fragrances that I can acctually get to work which is mininmal I use 2 CD 14 and warm n cozy 2 60 cotton.
Now when power burning...should I be concerned with a 3/4-1 inch melt pool? have tried 2 htp 83's in the 10 oz, but that is way to cool!

Well, if the wick goes out or gets so big that it catches the cat on fire, those are bad signs...
Seriously, I look for different things with different candles. If using containers, how hot does the container become?
If a pillar, does it blow out? Does it tunnel?
You know - one looks for the stuff that makes for a well burning candle that, even when burned by an idiot, will still perform relatively well and most importantly - SAFELY!
THe reason I ask...I do container candles and power burn all the time. and sometimes my melt pool gets to be 3/4-1 inch deep. but I have found to use a smaller wick doesn't get a full melt pool in a couple hours. Should I be more concerned with my deep power burning melt pool?
-
When you do power burn what then becomes unacceptable? How deep is too deep for power burning? I suppose the depth is the main thing you watch for.

just want to say a huge thanks to everyone for you input! I'm am going with the no border for now. The fact that I waste lables with the border is what is really selling me on the no border. It doesn't always print wrong, but I guess just when the paper doesn't go through the printer just right is when it does. I still have some border ones i have to use up first.

My first thought also was that you are mixing at too low of a temp. I would suggest 170-175 too. Maybe you should try that with the fo that you have so you don't end up with so many. I really think that will take care of a lot of your problem.

That's funny because my husband was looking over my shoulder at those pics and we both said at the same time...floating candles...wow! Those are great pics! Catch the attention.
LOL!! No the are not floating. If you really want to know, it is a black sweater they are setting on and is also extened up to be the back ground. Make sense?
-
well ya'll aint gonna make this easy for me, are you...lol! I think i"m still leaning towards the no label. thanks for all your honest opinions!

I would be so incredibly happy if someone would ask me how to properly burn a candle. Instead, I end up telling them without them asking and they just look at me with a blank stare like they couldn't care any less. I was telling my friend once how its so important to trim you wick and she said she has never heard of that. :rolleyes2 It's kinda common sense...
I totally agree! I would love to tell people the testing process...in hopes they will better appreciate the candle and will have confidence that it is a trust worthy product!

I don't sell that product but something down that line. I have 2 oz sampler containers that I use as samplers for people to try. You could use a much smaller container, but 1 tsp. sounds like hardly enough for them to get a good feel of the product. I would reccomend also using the little dixie cups or condiment cups witha plastic lid usually bought at a resturant supply place (there was just recently a thread on here somewhere with link where to buy them).
I think the little scented tissue is okay when they are asking to smell something that you don't normally make, but I think that is too unprofession to do that for all your fragrances.
And one other thing, I would mixed all the samplers individually. I would make a very small amount I don't know what size container you sell in, but maybe one container, where you can properly measure the fo,then divide it into your sampler container, then you may have several samplers of the same size. Then if your samplers are small enough and your containers are disposable you can sometimes just give a sampler to someone to try and get them hooked on your product.

Very pretty! I know they aren't pure white, but they made me think "wedding". Like a unity candle or something. Very nice!!
-
such a wonderful idea! Very creative! You did a great job!

i like using the oven method best. just pop them in the low temp oven first thing in the morning then you can forget about them for awhile since you probably don't feel like fixing a problem first thing in the morning, then after you get going and are ready to face the problem to be fixed they are melted! I still have some of these left from the christmas time. they have been kept in an airtight jar. Any opinions on whether or not i should still sell them. Out of the jar they smell just as strong as ever. I package them into Organza bags then into a poly bag to sell.
Thanks,
Jodie
