  1. Wow,

I'm glad I waited to try the new stuff... I was going to order some next week and look into switching over. I check w/ my supplies (DPS Wax) and they said that it was discontinued and they aren't suppose to sell any more :shocked2:

I hope they don't mess with CBA original I just got everything working perfectly ;)

Does anyone know why it was pulled??

  2. Hi,

I've used both the large and small square jars and the large and small rectange jars. The small squares I wicked with an LX 26, and the large square jar I double wicked with 2 LX 26's. The rectangle jars I double wicked the small ones and triple wicked large ones with LX 22's. I use EcoSoya Advanced (original) with a little Vybar.

  3. I've seen all the rustic pillars people do on here, and have to admit I'm jelous. Is there some trick to making rustic pillars w/ soy was that I'm missing, can they not be done :embarasse

I'm using EcoSoya Pillar Blend and aluminum molds. I've tried pouring at 10 degrees over the melt point, I've waited till is was slushy, I've waited till it started to setup (made for an intertesing effect, but not what I wanted), I've chilled the mold, I've frozen the mold... and I've search and search...

If anyone can help this frustrated pillar maker wannabe please :rolleyes2

I use the newest version, and I have flash and java support on other sites, but it doesn't pick up yours for some reason. Weird, might just be me.

Thanks for the info... I'll have to look into that since it should work. I doubt it's you I probobly have an error in the checks :sad2:

  5. Thanks for all the feedback. :o

7Angela7: Thats my current project, making it more dial-up frendly... I'm temped to offer a dialup and highspeed startup page, but that might be too complicated. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet.

Spellkast: Unfortunately I don't know the lady who's picture is on the header. I wish I did so I could use her in all my product photos...

    Thanks,

  6. The refined is white and in little pettels, it doesn't have a beeswaxy smell, but a kind of chemically smell, and it gave the balm a funny taste even after adding flavor oils. When I use Soy I don't get the funny taste or smell. It may be the brand of refined beeswax that has the problems.

  7. I've used Ecosoya Pure Soy as a subsitute for beeswax before. It works but the end results are a softer bar/balm. I've tried it in lip balms (don't like the refined beeswax as it stinks and I didn't want yellow balm cause I was going to color it neon colors) and in lotion bars (didn't like the end results, not sure if it was the soy or the recipe though). DON'T use EcoSoya PB as it's intended for candles and is not cometic grade, EcoSoya Pure is pure soy and can be used in cosmetic applications.

  8. I make a Tea Tree/Green Tea exfoliating scrub with it.

    Recipe:

    2# FBB

    8oz Sweet Almond Oil

1 1/4 to 1 3/4 cups fine gain salt (dead sea, epson, or a blend)

    1tbps Green Tea Extract

1tsp Tea Tree Oil (it seems small but remeber some people put this on their face)

Mix the Sweet Almond Oil and FBB until smooth and them beat the heck out of it. You want it to be 1.5 to 2 times the orginal volume. Then blend in the salt (vary amount based on how gritty or exfoliating you want it), green tea extract and tea tree oil until smooth. It will be really runny after you add the last three ingredients but it will firm up over the next couple hours.

  9. I'm not an expert in pillars, I'm still getting mine right, but pillar wax and container wax are really different beasts in my experience. Container wax isn't designed to come out of a mold like pillar wax does. I beleive pillar wax shrinks a little as it sets up which lets it come out of the mold. I've never heard of anything that would make container wax act like pillar wax... but if I'm wrong on this let me know. I'd love to learn more :)

  10. I contacted the UPC-code people and got quote for my business... You would have to have a different code for every product and every different version of that product, IE one code for each scent in each product (4 candles x 20 scents = 80 codes) and that's just candles. I would cost me $1,750 a year to maintain my UPC liscence ( about 275 codes) with them on top of the $750 signup fee and I think there was another fee to generat the UPC codes... You also have to follow VERY strick standards about the size, condition and type of label.

    Thought this might help.
