I use a combo of glycerin and shea butter to that i add powder milk. After than is mixed in well i add my red coloring. Now i did some research when i started out cause i could not get a true red in the soaps and found that i could use icing colors from wilson in my soaps. If i use a color additive that is what i use now. They don't stain and they usually will stay true.

My son is serving in Iraq second tour and i made a lotion and sent it to him with Citronella, Lavender, Lemongrass , patchouli and either sandlewood or texas cedar. He likes the texas cedar better. I think it smells manly and the other soliders in his unit love it too. They have bad bitting buggies over there and they stay away now.

Wow this is an interesting thread and so needed right now!
Thanks girls I sell mine at different prices and mine are mp soaps with additives (from my kitchen). My bakery soaps sell for 4.00 each and i also offer specials of buy 3 of the same soaps get the 4th free. I just went into my 1st shoppe in Mo and can't wait to see how they went over. I did send samples to give our cause one thing i learned is if you use handmade soaps once you are hooked.

Thanks Maryann I use cinnamon on my m/p soaps to make them grubby and what i do is spray the mold with a small and i mean small amount of rubbing achocol and then i tap a little bit of cinnamon where i want it (like powdering a cake pan) then i pour my soap... when it dries it is just enough
I also use cocoa (the baking kind) like in my cup of dirt soaps
It is all in the amount you use... little does go a long ways
