Would someone share a really good salt soap recipe with me or at least the ins and outs of making this? The last one I tried came out gritty. From everything I've heard this is one type of soap I'd love to try. Thanks.
Knock on wood. So far today has been a fantastic soaping day. Olive Oil soap is turning out perfect and so is the goatsmilk (so far it is a creamy white - not even turning tan). I'm addicted - if I had another mold I would do another batch! Thanks everyone for your advice!
I figured out the problem. I accidentially ordered and used potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide. Now, for a new question, can this mess be saved for anything? FYI, I ordered in a hurry and obviously wasn't paying attention.
Need more help here, I now have a gooshy mess. Here's the recipe again. Thanks for the help. I made some buttermilk soap fragranced with lemon eo. So far (almost 2 hours) it has turned a deep dusty peach color. Castor 10% Coconut 76 20% Rice Bran 10% Palm 10% Shea 20% Sweet Almond Oil 5% Mango Butter 25% 16 oz butter milk frozen 11.3 oz water Lye 9.75 oz Butter milk was frozen slushy, lye water was cool. Added powdered buttermilk at trace Thanks Salli

It's so ugly I'm afraid to take pictures - might break the camera!! It's less than 24 hours old and has no "zap" - Can someone please tell me what this means?
Thank you for your replies. This batch appears to be pretty much ok this morning. It is good and firm but has a little oil on top. I'll update this evening after I cut. Thanks again.
Hi everyone. I'm new here and definitely a beginner with soap fairies - I think. I just did a batch of coffee soap scented with chocolate. I had to use two different kinds of molds - one is wooden and one is plastic (rubbermaid). The soap (?) that is in the plastic mold has an oil slick on top and the wooden one is as bad (just a few little puddles). Can anyone tell me what I did wrong?
