  1. Hello. I am fairly new to this board but not new to candle making. I have been buying from Gelluminations for about 3 years or so and I have never had a problem with them. Infact, 2 years ago just before Christmas time I submitted an order to them specifically for a customer who wanted to buy some supplies for last minute Christmas Candle making. Now we all know how busy this season is for us candle makers and everyone trying to get what they need to make their candles for customers. Well, I submitted the order online and paid, and was given a tracking number for FedEx. Needless to say I wasn't home when FedEx tried to deliver the packages so they left a tag on my door. Ok...I thought I will call them like the card said to have them redeliver. They said it would be to me the next day. 2 days later still NOOOOOO supplies. So I called them and they said it went back to the supplier----who was Gelluminations. I was FURIOUS!!!! I called FedEx to find out what the heck was going on and they said "There was a break down in communication and my packages were sent back to the supplier." I said to them, "Break down in communication???? There's about to be a breakdown in your company!!!! I immediately called Gellunimations and told them the story and they immediately resent my products to me next day UPS without even receiving the product back that they origionally sent to me. I even asked them not to ever send anything to me FedEx and they don't anymore...just UPS.

I'm sure Gelluminations will do what they can to resolve it.

  2. I don't know what to do!!!

this evening my site has been visited from a lot of people, they belong to a forum where they xchnge links of sites offering freebies.

I don't offer freebies, anyway I got the first email without knowing anything about this forum, so I offered the lady to have two free tarts, since I have a promotion going on for the members of my newsletter.

Then the second arrives... asking the same.. I think "oh what's happing" but I answer in the same way.

Then I check my visit tracking site, and I find the forum. I sign in (with a fake name) and find the discussion about my website, the first lady pasted my email so everyone is asking for freebies and signing up for the newsletter (I offer freebies but not every month).

Well, I go on reading the discussion, and one lady says my site is full of viruses and dialer... it's not!!! I suspect my hosting company put ads on it, so people who don't have pop up blockers see a lot of ads.. then I get a harsh email always from the first lady who wrote, saying my site loaded tons of virus in her PC.. and that i can keep my tarts because she doesn't even want them now (uh maybe viruses can infect tarts??)

I answered I am a serious person, I paid for my domain and for my hosting, because I care for every aspect of my business.

In the meanwhile I searched for a phone number to call but guess what, my hosting company doesn't offer assistance by phone for domains.. I should fill an online form, but there is no exact reference to the problem I'm having.

    What do I do?????

I have a group of crazy people wanting freebies, then suddenly turning in angry people because they think I distribute viruses, and my hosting company... how can I stop this madness????

    HELP!!!

OMG....I'm sooo sorry this happened to you. As far as the freebies...I never just give out freebies to anyone who is not a customer. The way I do it is I send 2 or 3 tarts of various scents with a paid order. When I finish my new web site I will have a promo which includes a free 5 oz. candle (scent of choice) for orders over $20.00 (limit 1 per paid order).

As far as the website goes, I would be totally ticked off. If I pay for something like hosting, have a problem, and I can't get ahold of you right away you can believe I will be taking my business elsewhere no other questions asked! It has been estimated for every 5 minutes your site is down or something is wrong with it, it could cost you a sale...Not Cool! I really hope you get all this figured out. I would be crazy!

  3. Woo-hoo! First post!

I am looking for any suppliers of an unscented shaving cream base. I ordered some from a company I shall not name, and they just shipped today... a full month after I ordered.:angry2:

That won't work, if I should start getting orders. I already have a boutique owner in town that wants to carry my creams and shaving brushes.

I started with a great base that I have actually been shaving with, but it is pretty expensive. I found the same stuff from the slow shipping company, but I am looking for other alternatives. It must have an excellent lather, as well as be somewhat moisturizing.

Let me go ahead right now and quash the FBB angle. I started out with that first, and it just doesn't lather right. I still have 6 lbs. that I don't know what to do with, now.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have a link for you. Email me at customerservice@glimerz.com.

  4. I have several that are 4 years old and smellin' great. I have bought FOs off the classy and they smell great when I get them but within a week they stink. Is that maybe from shipping during the hot summer heat? Ginger

I'm with everyone else. The scents we have and use seem to last forever and don't appear to break down---provided they are kept in a cool dark place--and that's how I store mine. I do know a few companies out there who retail candle/b&b scents and they use a cutter solvent (DPG) to save themselves money. The scents that are "cut" with this do tend to break down faster than ones that aren't "cut". We used to "cut" ours for retail but we don't anymore. They strength we make them are the ones we retail. We only "cut" ours for our own candle making. Just a thought.:D

  5. Just looking at your post reminded me of something I did one Valentine's Day many many moons ago. I found a place who sold the little chocolate candies papers, the boxes chocolates come in, and little chocolate molds and I made a box of wax chocolates, labeled them and sold them with a little tart burner. They were such a big hit I have done that every year since then. Gl and let me know if you need any help. I can find my notes on them for you! I can't give out exacts but I may be of some help!

  6. Hi,

I was wondering whether food colouring could be used instead of the proper dye.

Is is possible to make your own wicks, if yes, how do you do it? Is it just string covered in wax?

    Thanks in advance!

Years ago when I first started I thought I would save money by using food dyes....I could never have been so wrong! What a disaster! I not only wasted my time but my candle materials also. So, to make a long story short,,,,,I only use the proper candle dyes.
