  1. Mason jars is something I swore I would never do too.... but with the prices of all other supplies going up I *may* have to consider it also. Now, I have done a tester in a mason-- ONCE!-- and it never left my house.... And my husband is never going to let me forget it either. That man can reeeaalllly ride something until the wheels fall off! Yours look FABULOUS! Congrats!
  2. Does anyone have a write up of a palm container or palm pillar warning label? I have been a soy only gal but am delving into palm and I need to know what goes on the labels, since palm doesn't clean up with hot soapy water, etc. Or does anyone know where to purchase them? OR, are the palm warning labels similar to one for parrafin? I am so confused... or am I answering my own questions???:embarasse Thanks so much!
  3. I have been putting my mini-melts in cello bags, but since this is a bridal shower I thought there might be more elegants ways of presentation. My #1 concern is protection from breakage. The mini-melts that are being requested as just as cute as they can be, but are not as thick and solid as regular tarts. Thanks so much!!
  4. Ahhhh... me know Murphy's Law REAL well. After all, I have three boys!!!

  6. thanks soooooooooooo much for posting this info! I have been stalking their website too, had the May 10th date in my PDA, phone, on a sticky note, and basically burned into my brain. Due to cash flow (um, lack thereof!) I was not able to purchase it the first time in a 50lb bag. Thanks again!:whoohoo:
  7. Still I manage to get caught out many times and end up in a panic when I haven't got something I need and sods law says someone will always ask for what you have the least of. What is sods law?
  8. It also depends on if you are going to offer "freshly made when you order" products. I do WAY too many styles of glassware, tins, votives, tarts/melts, tealights and molded/pillar candles to have big bucks tied up in already made items. I am already carrying the cost of several types of wax on hand-- several versions of soy, pillar/tart/votive, starburst palm, feather pal, and soon glass glow container palm. I also offer custom-made items -- for ex. I can make you a lavender scented candle in green wax since you like lavender but want something green to go with the decor in that particular room. I also do not have a lot of storage space. (except for garage, and that is not a friendly place for my items since I live in FL!) Just some more items to mull over.....good luck with your business!
  9. When you get a reply from CS, could you post their recommendations here? Thanks so much!
  10. Thank you-- that explains so much. So I just need to fool around with wick sizes to get enough of a pool to make the side walls thin enough to see the glow, but not thin enough to collapse? (sounds easy enough.........
  11. But if wicked properly, should I be getting a "glow" from inside the candle when it has burned down far enough? Do dye colors used affect this too? TIA!
  12. I just started working with palm wax and made a pillar (I'm waiting on the Glass Glow for CS!). I have a ?? about the sides being too thick? I used CS's starburst palm wax and cooled it very slowly --with an Igloo cooler over it! The mold size was a 3 x 4.5 with a concave top. Used a CSN 11 wick-- no FO, 1 dye chip. It came out beautifully, if I do say so myself! 2 days later I lit it and it burned nicely. Last night I wanted to see the glow from down inside the candle-- it had burned long enough to do this, or so I thought. Now I am wondering if I need to wick up to make the melt pool go out further to be able to see the candlelight once the wick has burned down far enough. Am I making any sense?
  13. I I signed up for an email notification from them for when they reopen. I'm thinking positively! Of course, I'm positive I have a real headache now, too.......
  14. I hope this will be useful to you. I have also been trying to figure out the Great Mystery of the Forever Pillar. I was on Peak looking for the tea light insert plug that I had seen on 2 other sites (both of which happen to be closed for anywhere from 60 days to late May) and I used the feature to talk to a "real live person." Nachelle was so incredibly helpful, and even though Peak does not carry the plugs, she kep working until she found a website that did! I had been searching the Internet for about an hour, tried eBay, and I have not been on this board long enough to post a classified ad. Here's the link: www.candlesandsupplies.com SKU # isPLUG-T and they call them "rubber tealight mold insert" They also have one for flower pot votives, but I could not find one for standard votives. I just oredered mine, so I can't tell you anything about them yet. Hope this helps!
  15. I bought 100 gusseted cello bags so I am using them. Started off packaging small candles I made in votive cups in them, now I am using them for tarts and votives.
  16. Thanks so much for everyone's responses so far, esp. those that were FL specific. Where does one get business (or whatever it's called-- liability for business?) insurance? Do you just call around like you were shopping rates with the Gecko for your car or what? I am totally lost, and can't really afford a professional to guide me through all of this. Thanks so much!
  17. How far into the game do you need to be before you get "legit" so to speak? Although I have only sold 5, yes, 5 items, my hubby thinks it is premature to get a business/occ. license, EIN number, insurance, tax info, etc. I am trying to make $$ for the long term care of our child with autism, and hubby doesn't want me to sink another dime into this deep red pit we are in until things start to sell. I am lining up names of local businesses through contacts that might carry my products. I am wondering if they will say "no deal" if I don't have the proper papers, so to speak. Any help is greatly appreciate.
  18. I think my husband has mastered the EVIL 2 in round labels. Hopefully they won't be too big for the tarts I am making tonight. I'll try to post if it works or not. His schedule is wacky right now, and he is also my webmaster so I have to wait for him to be able to do it. Right now I am concentrating on making these tarts throw!
  19. Can anyone share with me what kind of wording they put on their tart warning label? I picked one up at BB&B today that was by "Hankee" Candle (1.79 each!) and tried to memorize the wording. Well,,, that was a brillliant plan. :embarasse So here I am asking you guys! I am a soy and palm girl so I won't give hard earned $$$ to The Man, even if it is only $2. TIA!
  20. I have some palm wax for pillars coming tomorrow, and I was wondering if it can be used in a container instead. If so, anything special I have to do? Wick recommendations? Thanks!
  21. Since the only one I have experience with is Moonlight Path, I re-named it "Moonlit Garden" for my store. HTH!
  22. I still don't know if it's a wicking problem either as I have a HUGE assortment of diff types of wicks. Ah, the more the merrier! I haven't yet used a FO that didn't say it was "not soy friendly"-- maybe it's the info I am NOT getting on the FO's..... Thanks for the help!
  23. Not sure where I read this, and I haven't tried it myself, so take this at face value! Try putting a styrofoam cooler around the candle mold so that it doesn't cool too quickly. HTH!
  24. I ordered soy wax that has a 15% FO hold from a reputable co. whose other waxes I have been experimenting with. Is this a waste of FO to try to get that much into a wax that states it will safely hold it? I am currently using 1.5 oz/ lb and not getting the hot throw I want. Cold throw is good in most applications. Thanks!
  25. I was sooooooooooooooooooo disappointed when I waited to long ($$ reasons) to order the 10lb. bag of Glass Glow. Called CS and rep said they *might* open a 55lb bag and offer it in 10lb increments. (Pipe dream, I know) Rep said more was on the way from Indonesia; website now says May 10th. Has anyone tried HTP wicks with the Glass Glow?
