  1. I've used both black oxide & black clay. Either one works.

The trick to this is to use mostly clear mp with just a small bit of opaque. Otherwise you'll end up with a pastel color because of the TD.

I learned this trick from pjsoaps website. You can also get some really nice dark reds, greens, or blues this way. Here's the link if you're interested.

  2. That makes sense. I have dry skin w/oily T-zone. I'm thinking maybe apply only to that area at least once a week to control shine. We'll see how that goes. I'll have to test various clays to see which one I like best. Should take me at least 6 months LOL!

  3. These recipes are fantastic. Thanks. I bought some clays from the co-op and have no idea what to do with them.

I did make a mask for myself with the Australian Pink since I read it's good for mature skin and find that I have less shine at the end of the day.

Anyone know sure how often a mask can be applied? Once a week or more often?

  4. Eileen, if you're interested, here's my method.

Since I'm horrible at math, I like to keep it simple. I create my "bees bar" at 50% beeswax, 25% butters, 25% oils. I cut it into 1 oz & .5 oz pieces. This way I know more or less what I'm using instead of measuring tablesp & cups.

1 oz piece = .5 oz bees, .25 oz butter, .25 oz oils

.5 oz piece = .25 oz bees, .125 oz butter, .125 oz oils

  5. I like to use pippettes for my FOs. For my foamers I use 3mL FO. I think that's approx 1 1/2% FO for the full amount of the product. I read somewhere to use max of 2% FO on liquid soaps & washes but that's depending on the FO itself. You should look into what your supplier state's on the particular FO you're using. Hope that helps.

Maybe ask your foamer supplier for the ratio amount?

  6. Did a 1/2 batch last night. I converted the grams to ounces so my amounts may have been a little off from Coco's recipe. Tried one in the shower this morning. Even though it was a bit soft, it melted nicely as I was rubbing it.

I'll have to play a little more and so to inspire me, I joined the swap :yay:

  7. She sent me a replacement for a out of stock item without any kind of notice. I emailed I didn't want the replacement but got no response. I also won't ever buy from her again.
