  1. Swamp, I bought the same kit several months ago. It was my first attempt at container candles. I had the same issues that you are having. I finally got a great hot and cold throw by doing the following: increased the fo from 1 oz per pound to 1.5 oz per pound, started using LX wicks, and let candles cure for at least 5 days. Other than that I followed the company's directions. These changes helped tremendously! :D

  2. Hi Everyone!

I haven't posted in months, but I read daily. You guys are very helpful. I've just ventured into trying to make container candles. I usually make pillars. Anyway, I found a 3 inch square thick glass Libby container at Wal-mart and was wondering if anyone has every used it. Also, is it harder to properly wick a square container than it is a round container? Thanks in advance~

  3. What type of chemical is used in air fresheners? They claim to eat odors in the air too. They come in all types of scents. Why don't they eliminate their own scent? How would a spray know which are the good air molecules and which ones are evil? Don't know. Never been one to use spray air fresheners much. Seems to me that it is fragrance to cover up the odor.

  4. As stated before, I've never made a container candle. I'm all about a pillar. I'm ready to give it a try. I want to make knock-your-socks-off container candle. So does soy throw better than paraffin or is it the other way around? These candles will be strictly for my enjoyment. I make candles for my mental health not to sell. (Great stress reliever after dealing with children all day!) TIA~

  5. Yummy! A few of you were raving about this and you have great taste. :yay: It smells very good and somewhat delicate to me! I made it in a 3" pillar at 1 oz pp. Does it throw better in a container? I'm on the fence about switching to container candles because I want a really loud throw. TIA

  6. Anyone ever used this? I've NEVER made a container candle before and would love to try. I was amazed when I read that this wax holds up to 12% FO.

    APOP

A formulated wax with a great hot & cold scent throw. This new wax has the best of J-50 & J-223. The melt temperature is around 126 and we recommend the pour temperature to be 145-160 degrees. The APOP wax can hold up to 12% fragrance per pound and requires less dye to achieve similar colors.

  7. What causes a fuel smell when burning a paraffin candle? I made a rustic pillar 3 days ago...3 TBS Stearic and 1/2 tsp of vybar....1 oz FO. It has a GREAT cold throw, but I'm definitely smelling fuel after it has been going for about 1 hour.

Any thoughts or recommendations will be much appreciated.
