  1. I did some research online and found petrolatum to soften wax. I ordered it so I could make my own container wax - my wanted to mix that with straight parrafin which I can get cases locally, and additives. I was a little discouraged when the petrolatum arrived and I realized I had bought a big tub of vasoline - DUH - I don't know why I didn't make the connection when doing my research. Anyway - it worked better than straight parrafin as far as not having as much shrinkage or so many repours. But chemistry/formulas has never been my strong point so I was happy to find a nice container wax somewhat local to me.

So now I have about 1/2 container of petrolatum sitting for about 5 years now. Maybe someday I'll feel like another experiment. ;)

Oh a natural wax one that worked o.k. for me was a blend of the veg/palm wax with beeswax. No feathering but a very nice creamy pillar. I don't remember why I tried that one but I remember the outcome being fine. :rolleyes2

  2. Do you want to do craft shows? If so, my own experience has been that I just have to focus on my products. I enjoy making candles so when customers start asking questions I pretty much just stick to the facts that I know I'm confident in and try not to think about any other distractions. I hope that makes sense. Other than that - I force myself to say hello and smile and keep in mind that if someone doesn't respond, maybe they are just shy like me. It has gotten easier for me.

I hope that helps. Good Luck!

  3. I would think the votive wick may burn it too fast, but I don't know what wax you're using or anything. I would ask your friend how long she wants them to burn for - then start testing. There are additives you can get that raise the melting point and make the wax harder and longer burning. I get mine from Pourette, they are called clear crystals but they may be called something else at other suppliers. That might be something at will work with your wicks. Try and see.

    Good Luck!

  4. I think your set-up looks very appealing! I would stop and look.

That would be too bad not to use the crates at all. Can you flip them over and use them as steps or a riser for a "showcase" scent or color? - Just an idea.

I am constantly puttering around my table at shows - restocking, re-arranging, adjusting...it's neverending for me.

  5. What a bunch of bull! I can't believe they want $75 claiming they can't

re-use the cartons. (???) The last shipment I got from them - the box was stamped on the side "Live Plants - This side up". It for sure made me take a second look.

    - obviously they recycle but it is completely wrong to try to charge you above and beyond top dollar for something they most likely got second hand to begin with. I won't be ordering from them anymore either. I hope they resolve this for you quickly - what a pain!
