  1. Okay, it's on the tip of my tongue...I was experimenting with combining it with Germall and it worked fabulously, I have some 1.5 yr. old lotion that is still in great shape. It's a four-letter abbreviation, not EDTA, I'm fairly certain it started with a T. I used to get it at TDF, but they don't have it now. HELP!

  2. 1. That is not a stock border. I created it by hand, exacting and detailed, and while it is possible to come up with a similar graphic, it is impossible to get that identical graphic unless you simply pull it from my webpage. Period.

    2. I never stated a name, never intended to make this public, never desired a name to be identified.

  3. Mine is a Konica Minolta 2400w. I bought it online at Staples.com and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. I had a problem with the printing belt (or whatever it's called), and while the first CSR I talked to was not helpful, and basically said that it was my fault, and I couldn't use clear labels with it, that I'd damaged it myself, I got a followup call a day later, explained the whole thing again and they set it straight. They sent me a new belt and it's worked perfectly ever since.

  4. Thank you, e...in fact, it was my intention to keep her identity private if and until there was a need to make it public, which I don't know what that would have taken. However, I did post in another post about it, which did identify her, and so I take responsibility for doing so, but as only two people responded to it, I assumed that only two people cataloged it, and those two people are ones that I know are not drama-seeking people. Therefore, I did not realize that it would be easily connected, or I probably would have just avoided posting about it.

As I mentioned, I'm hoping that there will be a quick, easy resolution and perhaps even an explanation that will redeem the situation and if so, I will certainly share that with whomever cares to know - I would be very disappointed should anyone's reputation suffer needlessly from something easily expained.

I'm checking out for the day - have a great night, everyone.

  5. sudsnwicks - I have no earthly idea when the other logo was designed, but I do know that I designed mine myself, without seeing anything remotely similar before, using a simple editing program and solely my creativity and knowing what I wanted it to look like. That was in early 2004, and like I said, I've been using it since then.

E - not a problem, I'm all about the clarity, LOL! Nah, I know I have no claim on the concept, it's all the rage, and if I started getting pissed about that, I'd have to sue EVERYBODY, right?! LOL!

  6. Oh e, not at all. Of course not. I don't want to post the logo in question, but I think if I posted it, it would be more obvious side by side. If someone is going to go for that faded border look, thats fine. Not much I can do about it. But it's quite obvious that my logo was copied from the internet, flipped around 180 degrees and the new name was put where mine is. To come up with your own version is not something I can fuss about, nor would I. But to just take mine, turn it around and use it as your own, to me, is unacceptable. Fade your own border if you like it so much, but don't take what took me hours upon hours to get exactly right and flip it and use it. I would be terribly flattered should someone come up with their own interpretation of a logo like mine, with their own twist, but this isn't someone's interpretation, it's just a flat out copy and paste.

  7. Well, I would cut and paste the email I sent, but I think it has too much identifying information in the body - this person is indentifiable here, and I would hate to cause a problem for that person's business if this is all a simple misunderstanding. I tried to cut out the parts that might reveal the person's identity, but there's basically not much left. Here's the massacred email:

    Dear X,

[Explanation about how I found the site]. When I visited your website, I was surprised to see that your logo was almost exactly the same as the one I designed, developed and have been using for over two years for my business Henry & Co. It appears that the border around your business name is identical to mine, but reversed 180 degrees.

As a [identifying information removed], I'm sure that you can understand the time and energy it takes to develop something that you love, and the copyrighting issues that can stem from that. I have copyrighted all the material on my websites and on my labels since 2004, and I have worked hard to design an image that is unique and representative of my brand.

I must ask that you redesign your logo, now that you have been informed of the copyright issues that are at stake, and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and help, and again, [identifying information removed]!

  8. Few more questions - obviously, since it's whipped, you must have mixed it well while it was cooling. If you are sure that you mixed it well as it cooled (sometimes even the most perfect recipes will separate if I don't mix well until it's cooled for about 36 hours), then the next suggestion I have is to increase your ewax load. I usually use btwn 5-10% ewax (but then again, I don't use stearic) depending on how much oil/butter is in it. Since you have such a heavy cream, you may need to get closer to the 10%. I'd say that an 8% load of ewax wouldn't be too much.

  9. I'm working on my first email, and since I have a relationship (albeit only online and not particularly close) with this person, I don't want to get all nasty. I'm hoping that they will simply remove it with the first email, but I want to make sure I'm clear, without being offensive. I have a few paragraphs written, but I'm vacillating between "You better remove that sh!t now or I'll blast you all over the 'Net" and "Would you please pretty please mind changing your eerily similar logo?" Just wondered if there was sort of a template for an initial contact for this sort of thing.

I guess your statement is pretty clear, LOL! I just hate this part of being in business. :/

  10. I just discovered that another business is using part of my logo as the same part of theirs - the border around my logo was my own design, and I recently found another person that is using the border I designed, but reversed 180 degrees with their name in the middle.

I'm looking for an idea about what kind of wording I need to use to ask that person to change the logo. I'm not really interested in calling my attorney, I'm hoping that calling it to the person's attention will solve the problem, and my request will alert them to the issue, so I'm looking for a more informal kind of letter. Anyone have suggestions?

  11. Jenny, Lansinoh is a brand of 100% USP grade lanolin that I used when I had Henry - here's a blurb about it (bolding mine - if LLL approves it, that's a pretty good sign that it's safe):

Description: Developed especially for breastfeeding mothers, Lansinoh is an ultra pure, medical-grade modified lanolin. Refined by a patented process to remove environmental impurities (including pesticide residues) and allergic components (free lanolin alcohols and detergent residues). Lansinoh is completely safe for use by those who may have a sensitivity to wool or other refinements of lanolin. So pure and safe, Lansinoh does not have to be removed before breastfeeding. Lansinoh has been clinically proven in hospital trials to accelerate the healing process of breastfeeding mothers with sore, cracked nipples. At 100% concentration of Lanolin, Lansinoh is unique in its ability to assist the skin in restoring and maintaining the proper moisture content that is vital to healthy, supple skin. When Lansinoh is applied to injured nipple/areola skin tissue it slows down the evaporation of the skin's natural moisture, providing a moisture barrier that allows the skin to re-hydrate from within. This process is known as moist wound healing, the most up-to-date method for accelerated healing which eliminates the formation of scabs/crusts. 2 oz tube. The only lanolin with 20 years of allergy free results and the La Leche League stamp of approval!

There really isn't a great sub for lanolin itself, but I've seen OO recommended as a sub, and also, this may sound weird to you, but expressing some milk after nursing and rubbing it on the nipple can help combat dryness and cracking. Another good product to have is those gel pads or the ones covered in cotton that you put in the fridge and can lay on the breast under your bra, it can't really help if you have cracking or bleeding, but it sure feels good and provides relief. Henry and I had a wicked number of challenges in establishing a good b/f relationship, and it took me months of pain and agony and three bouts of mastitis before we settled into a pain-free routine, and I did a lot of research about natural stuff so if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me or email!

Have you visited mothering.com? They have a great natural mothering forum with all kinds of topics, from breastfeeding to feeding to attachment parenting to gentle discipline, etc., etc. Plus, you may find that you get a new clientele for your products! www.mothering.com/discussions

  12. Thanks for the input, I guess an email is in order...

Unfortunately, Lorrie, I only got 2 orders that I think were from the CandleFind website, I got a whole lot more from when I was on the SA show, and I think that I learned that people are much more inclined to trust an unknown brand when they can see you and get a sense of who you are, KWIM? I was disappointed when I didn't more orders from CF, but it was still great free advertising.

  13. I use the crystal clear from onlinelabels.com and mine are virtually water and smudge proof. I have a color laser printer though, so I know that makes a difference. I got my printer for $300 last year and I still haven't had to change cartridges, I love this baby.
