  1. Someone in this thread posted a tutorial about how to make these and they showed cutting the eyes etc out and covering with tape to pour... do you just leave them taped up? would the tape pose a fire hazard?
  2. Papermart seems to have tons of offerings like that though I have never ordered from them.
  3. I use it and do not add vybar to it.
  4. Just curious... what keeps the wax from running out of the eyes, nose, mouth etc, when it burns?
  5. Thank you! Still not satisfied how my selections in the gift collections display but until I have a better solution that will load faster... Have a blessed day Pine!
  6. Yes, the font issue. I am using css for layout and different browsers handle font differently. I had to go with the most popular browser settings, IE and in that the font appears normal and standard. I personally use Mozilla and yes, the font is much smaller there but I can resize easily. Most folks that use Mozilla do so to compensate... I want to avoid hacks in my css and am still searching a better workaround... The gift collection choice is a very good thought. I will switch out that pic as I believe you are right lol... Thanks for the time!
  7. Traditionally I have disliked busy backgrounds, or, backgrounds of most but, yours, nice. Very easy to navigate and not too busy. Great job!
  8. Great catches Pinetree! Earn Free is now fixed. To both you and Sherl... as for scrolling down products, are you referring to the scent listings under "Votives" or the checkbox list under Gift Collections? Thanks!
  9. You're the best! Thanks for finding that X pic on contact. When I reloaded my site last evening I forgot about the reset on that one! Thank your for cking!
  10. Any free time to review site? http://www.chandlerlane.com Looking for : load time ease of navigation pricing thoughts visual appeal too much/too little text etc etc etc. TIA!
  11. Not sure if it matters but I use a cd12 in the square mason jars with pure soy and have great melt pool and scent throw... As for burn tests, my only problem is the wait time. I get so excited that I find I have to trick myself like a small child... I pour, say 6 votives for a test run and start testing same day lol... by the time I do one a day I have 'cure time' and take the 6th burn for giving me direction... Might get expensive in the short run but I still always feel ahead of the game because had I never made candles I would be buying from someone else and spending more money in the long run!
  12. Learned the same lesson 20 years ago and I also had the same initiative... loved Yankee but had just gotten married and moved to an area that to get to the only Yankee outlet for miles around you had to take a ferry, cross a Great Lake and dock on a small island... you get the picture. I started with a child's candle making kit... it just went from there. First 5 years was testing and probably selling some that now that I look back on it, should have never ever been burnt indoors! Congrats on the green thumb though... I can kill anything! However, that being said, I did have a most beautiful amaryllis this past Christmas that amazed me as it bloomed. Beautiful! Welcome to CT!
  13. Might try here in the future. Really nice folks! http://www.wickcenteringtool.com/default.asp?S=500&CategoryID=-1&PageNo=2
  14. I do like your site. Being a romantic at heart (and also a web developer) the only thing that threw me off was the 'feel' of the site vs. the name of your company. When I read "Lake House Candle Company" I pictured more of a 'secret lake/forresty' type place where timeless aroma' were developed... and... well, you know what I mean... practically pictured the chandler in a long dress from the 1800's lol.. Yes, my imagination/creativity does the overdrive thing now and again... Best of blessings to you! P.S. - Really think about the shop... I have developed the opposite direction than you i.e. physical shop --> virtual store and physical shop is nice for the face to face but makes it really hard to keep up with candlemaking...
  15. I designed my own site and make my own candles and agree with the person that said build a local customer base first. I used to have a physical shop years back and assumed that when I went virtual it would be a piece of cake. Not being one strong in common sense and what folks refer to as the "obvious", it kind of bypassed me that no matter how great and visual the site, for some crazy reason people want to smell them before the buy lololol... Second, taking your own pictures and having them look professional was something I did not have the time nor patience for so I went a different route and try to portray the 'scent' via an atmospheric visual pic. Click my banner to see what I mean. Just a suggestion! As for royalty free pics, try http://www.freeimages.co.uk/ http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/ http://www.imageafter.com/index.php http://www.bigfoto.com/ Read their rules. Some are wide open and some require an acknowledgment... best of blessings to you!
  16. If you email me your template images I can try to help you out with your "Son" issue...
  17. I use Star Host. They are awesome. Zero downtime. Contact Ryan Strehlow at streryan@gmail.com . They supply cpanel and fantastico.
  18. Thanks for everyone's input. I sent off for my free samples today and will let you all know how it goes! You are the best!
  19. Thank you ! If there's anything I can ever do for you - holla!
  20. Thank you - I sent them an email and visited their site. Do you know if they sell fragrances still? I saw alot of 'production' type verbiage but not your typical "here's our fragrance list" thing...
  21. I do mix most of my own and those are three outstanding components to several of my blends. I can come close to my orig creation but if I could find these last three, then my previous repertoire would be complete! I actually rec'd a great response from Andrea Aromatics from the VP and he was extremely generous with his answer. I haven't tried their scents yet but with the quick response to my inquiry I am going to. Hard to find that type of services nowadays! Thanks for all the responses!
  22. YOU ARE THE BEST! If I can find that cinnamon, vanilla and cranberry, well, my joy will not be containable (word?). Thank you!!!!!
  23. Yes! Used a handful of their scents back in the day when I had a shop about 20 years ago. I took a sabbatical and returned to chandlery about 2 years ago and now have an online store. I will forever seek a duplicate of their cranberry, vanilla and cinnamon. No, it wasn't the most expensive but if you used a bit more the throw was spectacular. I have found a close cranberry called cranberry relish from NG but the throw is not what I need... I never knew if they were a repackager or they made their own... do you?
