  1. I use RRD's and ECO's. Again,I use different jars. In a 2 1/2 inch metro jar without dye, I can usually get by with a 40 or 47. I have a small 2 oz metro jar with a 2 inch diam. and I wick that with ECO's anywhere between a 1 - 4. I've been having a little hang up on scents I normally don't have problems with. I think it's because it's been sooo cold. HTH.

  2. I have only sold my candles at one show this past summer and haven't done any more selling since then. I'm not a very good business person. I have continued testing, testing and testing. My DH is driving me crazy telling me, I'm too much of a perfectionest and I just need to get my candless out.

Where I need help is that I just received an e-mail from someone who purchased some of my candles. She is a massage therapist and would like to sell my candles in her office. I don't know how to proceed. How much do I sell my candles to her for? Do I give her x amount of candles and have her pay me a percent of what she sells or do I bill her up front and what she doesn't sell is her loss? I don't even know if I'm asking the right questions or even how to do a search to find the answers:confused: . Like I said, I am not a business person. I much better at the manufacturing end.

I believe I have a good product. I have insurance and a business license. I just don't know how to proceed. I'm in desperate need of advice.

    Thanks,Shine

  3. Yep, that happened to me too but the heat gun helped the problems with the tops. I thought I was a pro with my first 50# batch of 444. Then on my second and third 50 pounders I've had trouble with the tops. They continue to have an awesome cold and hot throw so I'm sticking with the 444 and zapping the heck out of the tops.

  4. I love this scent (Fireplace) from NG OOB and for cold throw but I have a really weak hot throw from it. I'm using GB444 with 1.5oz FO pp. I've tested with 2 different wick sizes. Has anyone gotten a good hot throw from it using soy?

    Thanks, Shine

  5. How do you measure your flame height? Do you measure from the surface of the melted wax to the tip of the flame or do you measure from the tip of the wick to the tip of the flame or some other way?

I'm trying to get more specific in my testing standards. I use to just document flame height by small, medium, large etc. but I noticed I can be inconsistant in my observations. Also I mostly use RRD's and they mushroom awful. The shroom makes it hard to measure flame height.

    Thanks for your input,

  6. I bought those from Sam's for sniffies. After a while some of the cups began to crack. I use soy wax with no dye. I am now using a 2oz metro jar with lid and no wick for my sniffies from The Jar Store. I wish the plastic cups worked but they didn't for me :cry2: .

  7. I just used the clear labels today for the first time. They are awesome. Very clear and if you get it on uneven you can easily reposition it and it still adheres well and looks clear.

I use the hp 6200n laser printer. Make sure you set the paper for transparency. Otherwise, there is too much ink and it smudges.

  8. I agree with Candleman. I don't think it's a trend or a fad just preference. I have 3 people who help me test candles. One who loves the natural color because she doesn't have to worry about matching her decor, one who prefers colors and one who doesn't care as long as the candle smells awesome. I prefer the uncolored in jars because I think it looks more up scale, if in the right jar (I don't like the uncolored look in jelly jars).

I've been testing for about 9 months and only do dye free because it's easier. But eventually I like to offer 2 lines of candles with the same scents---one dye free and one with colors. Then I can try to appeal to more people:smiley2:
