  1. It is wax from Hobby Lobby. A 10 lb slab of parrafin. There are no pouring or melting instructions on the wax label so I looked on this site. I poured at 170. Heated to 185. This is the second time around for this batch of wax (because the first one came out worse than than these did). The first time I did not have a thermometer so I just guessed. WRONG. So, should I start over with new wax or does it matter how many times you have melted the same wax? Does remelting the wax do anything to the FO?

  2. OK. I melted my first first batch of candles becasue they looked so bad. Bought a thermometer, heated to 185, poured at 170, added more color at 180 (the color looks nice). heated the jars before hand. The containers are 8 oz bell jars. They did not sink as bad but the wax still looks like it has hairline cracks all thru it and it still has some condensation between the wax and the glass. I re-used the wax from my first pour. I am using a 10lb parafin wax slab and sol id FO and color chips. HELP!!!!!!

  3. Ok. I bought the scales and thermometer. Couple of questions. 1) Will a meat thermometer work or do I need the candy thermometer? 2) Is there a page that tells me the right temperature to melt and pour 3) What is a re-pour? is that when you top of the candle after the first pour? 4) I am pouring into 8 oz Bell jars so how long do I need to heat them in the oven? 5) I can melt the wax in the oven and then pour again after I check the temp right?

Jeez, this is what I get for thinking "Oh, this will be so easy" happens every time I get cocky. lol

  4. Pour my first set today. Everything seemed to go well until they started to cool. It is either water vapor or pulling away from the glass.

I heated the containers before I poured. I did not have a thermometer to check the temp so I am think that might be the issue.

I looks very cloudy, almost white.

  5. I just purchased a candle making kit from Hobby Lobby today. It is a stand alone melter with one form and some wax. After looking at the methods on this site I am beginning to wonder if I just wasted my 35.00.:cry2: Should I just stick with the double boiler/stove method. Do you suggest buying FO and things online and where/what would you suggest I start with. Any help is appreciated.
