  1. I just read this post and was wondering if you found anything. I love that smell.
  2. I am really thinking about branching out and want to do some hurricanes. I am looking for pics and any hints or suggestions that you may have.
  3. Can you tell when you add the FO or do you need to wait until you burn them?
  4. I have been using 1 oz of FO per lb of was. They smell great. But, I was wondering what most of you use.
  5. Yes, they are container candles. I had done that in the past but was curious why peak would not suggest it.
  6. When I order my starter kit from Peak it stated that you placed the pre-tabbed wick in after you poured once the candle starts to gel. I did that and have noticed that when they burn down the wick floats around the canlde.
  7. Can someone please tell me what jurried means?
  8. I will need more than these guys to keep me from making a ass out of myself. lol
  9. It is wax from Hobby Lobby. A 10 lb slab of parrafin. There are no pouring or melting instructions on the wax label so I looked on this site. I poured at 170. Heated to 185. This is the second time around for this batch of wax (because the first one came out worse than than these did). The first time I did not have a thermometer so I just guessed. WRONG. So, should I start over with new wax or does it matter how many times you have melted the same wax? Does remelting the wax do anything to the FO?
  10. OK. I melted my first first batch of candles becasue they looked so bad. Bought a thermometer, heated to 185, poured at 170, added more color at 180 (the color looks nice). heated the jars before hand. The containers are 8 oz bell jars. They did not sink as bad but the wax still looks like it has hairline cracks all thru it and it still has some condensation between the wax and the glass. I re-used the wax from my first pour. I am using a 10lb parafin wax slab and sol id FO and color chips. HELP!!!!!!
  11. I was not melting the wax in the oven. I was melting the candle that i poured te first time that came out bad. Sorry for the confusion. The wax is a 10 lb slab of parafin I got at Hobby Lobby.
  12. Ok. I bought the scales and thermometer. Couple of questions. 1) Will a meat thermometer work or do I need the candy thermometer? 2) Is there a page that tells me the right temperature to melt and pour 3) What is a re-pour? is that when you top of the candle after the first pour? 4) I am pouring into 8 oz Bell jars so how long do I need to heat them in the oven? 5) I can melt the wax in the oven and then pour again after I check the temp right? Jeez, this is what I get for thinking "Oh, this will be so easy" happens every time I get cocky. lol
  13. yea I thought as much. I was jusy excited to get started. Can I re-melt and start over?
  14. What type of scale to you suggest. I used the bathroom scale but do not think they were very percise.
  15. Pour my first set today. Everything seemed to go well until they started to cool. It is either water vapor or pulling away from the glass. I heated the containers before I poured. I did not have a thermometer to check the temp so I am think that might be the issue. I looks very cloudy, almost white.
  16. After reading more last night that is pretty much what I thought as well. Thanks for the info.
  17. I just purchased a candle making kit from Hobby Lobby today. It is a stand alone melter with one form and some wax. After looking at the methods on this site I am beginning to wonder if I just wasted my 35.00. Should I just stick with the double boiler/stove method. Do you suggest buying FO and things online and where/what would you suggest I start with. Any help is appreciated.
