  1. I brought some tealites from Homebase. The price was quite good! I took the wax, remelted it, added colour and fragrance. I then filled it back into the same container using the same wick. I'm now doing a test, using one of the original as a control. So far, when I lit them all were burning evenly but after 1 hour, the control is buring the brightest, with the flame in the others varying in height. All are lower than the control though. Any idea on what went wrong and how to correct it?
  2. candles? I mean from when you were first introduced to it. And how did you know that you were ready to sell?
  3. I went on Candlewic site and saw so many fragrances, I don't know what to choose!! Please give me some ideas of the must haves!! Those in the Ultimate scents.
  4. from Candlewic? I just ordered some molds and colours from then. Want a few frangrances also. Which should I get? THe must haves!!
  5. Thank you. I love doing cakes. I've been thinking about the cake candles. I saw a 3 tier cake candle, made from a mold once. That mold would be perfect!! But souffle dishes would work for the bottom tier. Now to find something for the others. My tutor told us about using PVC piping, but I still have to figure how to seal on end properly. I'll experiment!!
  6. My hobby is Cake decorating http://www.hmcakes.com and I'm interested in selling candles as well. Candles to decorate the table. However I don't have any molds and would like to get some. Especially round ones of varying sizes. Does anyone have extras that they are willing to sell me?
  7. Hi, I'm one of the newbies to this board, so you know I need a lot of help!!! I live in London. Went to The Body Shop here, guess what is the price for a burner?? 10 POUNDS!!! Unbelievable!! In Trinidad, where I'm from originally, it's about 50 pence!!! Ok, my question, can I place it in a container on the radiator? Or is it risky? I decided to ask instead of doing it because I dont want to burn down my landlord's flat!!!
  8. I'm a newbie and I'm getting confused about the different types of waxes and candles I'm reading about. Nattycat was quite helpful, but I have more questions and don't want to bother her again. I'm getting 1 type of paraffin wax here in UK. But I'm reading about different types for votive, container, etc. Do I have to add something to the paraffin? My tutor told us about stearin for easy release. What else do I need to use?
  9. Hi, I'm Trinilady from London. I am currently doing a basic candle making course. My aim is to be able to earn a supplimentary income from it by selling at fairs, boot sales, etc. This seems to be a hobby I'm going to enjoy!!! There is nothing better than being able to make cash doing something you like!!! I will be asking a lot of questions so remember me and be patient!
