Isn't weird that most people are using antibacterial soap because they feel safer when it's making bacteria stronger? It is so difficult to find liquid soap that's just soap.
This is so true. I worked with a lady who is a GERM-A-PHOBE. She wouldn't even let someone else sit in her chair! She took her daughter to the doctor at least three times a month. Except for vaccinations, I only went to the doctor once as a kid and we didn't have anti bacterial soap when I was growing up.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I checked with an emu coop that is close to me and their prices are crazy! I remembef when ranchers in East Texas couldn't give emus away!

I've found a few places to buy but I'd like to shop around to make sure I'm getting the best price. If anyone knows of an affordable place to buy grade A and B, I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks

I "tested" for almost a year and a half. I started giving them away right away because I didn't know better. A friend still has one that I gave her in the beginning and it scares the heck out of me that she burns it.

I might be wrong for this but I use an old coffee cup warmer. It looks like the cheapo hobby lobby warmer but has high and low temp. No idea what the wattage is.

I've been wanting to make a lickable hot message candle. I tested with a few items. I wasn't real impressed. I think it'd work well treating it like a wickless candle.
-
Is this how you're going to word the ad?
LOL. That's funny. No, I'll say that I need the money and hate to sell it but have to.
-
I can post I can post in the classifieds and sell this CRAP they call 4627! I'm officially insane because of it. I'm searching the archives and previous posts to find a different wax to go with. I'm thinking J50. I've used J223 in the past and liked it but got too many wet spots. I really need encouragement right now because I'm on the verge of giving up!

I am a very new candle maker (or candle tryer, at any rate) and I think I may be getting obsessed! I have spent too much money already but I can't seem to stop, I NEED every new scent I see, they all sound irrestible. Then I need to try wicks, and dyes, and I need a ton of wax, and molds and tealight cups and pots and thermometers and jars and God knows what else! Did you all go through the same thing? When does the obsession tame into a healthy, normal hobby... lol. If it's not soon, I may need to apply for more credit cards...j/k!
I'm still pretty new at this too. I've only been doing it for a year and a half. I have spent more money than I can ever hope to make. I feel like I need to give it to people so they can give me opinions. (they all say my candles kick butt but I've got this confidence issue. lol.)
I've decided to stick to only ten fragrances until I start selling a lot. I wrote down all of the different catagories of fragrances and chose one or to FO's for each. That way I have something for everyone but am no longer going over board buying FO's.

Thanks to everyone who commented on this.
I thought I had enough experience to make this wax work this time but I guess I was wrong. I'm getting really ugly air bubbles and I'm not talking about wetspots. It's as if they're working their way to the glass after a few days. I guess this wax is just so viscous that it holds the bubbles while it cools.

Hi everyone, OK I finally decided to do the spicket on my pots, only thing is, Home Depot & Sears doesn't carry the 19/32" drill bit or thread tap to match. I could use some help here! Could someone PLEASE tell me where to find these. I'd really appreciate your help! :highfive:
If you happen to live near Conroe TX, Rex tool supply is where I got mine. Otherwise it's pretty easy to find a supplier in the phone book. I would offer to mail mine to you but I used a little smaller bit. I did as someone else suggested and used the nipple to create the thread. Mine ended up crooked but it works!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions; however, the glue dots have found a new home!
-
You can send your dots to me. I really like them. Never had a wick come unstuck, and I can relocate the wick in the jar if I need to. Of course, it's better to be careful, and center the wick the first time.
The other thing I like about them, is they wash out easily when I'm asked to refill jars. I get many requests for that service. I'm not sure the glue from a glue gun would do that.

It's so funny how something will work for one person and not another. I hear great things about certain waxes that I can't do a thing with. If you want them, i'll give them to you just so I won't have to look at them and be reminded of the mess I made. Email me at leashaann@yahoo.com. (I'm sorry if this is against the rules but I'm too new to use classifieds and besides, I'm not selling them. I'm giving them away.)

I got sick of using hot glue so I bought a twenty dollar box of glue dots. They are absolutely worthless! I only used about five of them. I wonder if I can complain and get a refund. Has anyone ever sucessfully returned something for a similar reason?
-
Thanks for the info. I just thought it would be nice to know so I'd have a better idea of where to start with wicks.
The last time that I used it, I had to scoop it. This time, I was able to slice it into blocks with wire.

Ditto!
I searched; That's why I said I'm sick of it. Sometimes it's hard to phrase your keywords to get good results. Never know which words were used for what. Thanks for the help.
-
Please don't tell me to do a search on this because I'm sick of searching. I'm just curious but I used comfort blend last year and just switched back. Is it less "vasalinie" now or is it just the cold weather.
Also, I did a search on this too but found nothing. Does CB seem to end up with more air bubbles that the other waxes?
Thanks

Definitly a re-call item....WHERE DO THEY GET THOSE CUTE CONTAINERS!
Ive looked everywhere. Just a few snowflakes on a glass jar would make me happy.
I'm sure they buy them in super massive quantities from China, sometimes I get so frustrated when I see the really cute containers they have and I know that unless I buy 1000's of them it is not worth it. BTW that is a really cute container but you are right looks like they have a wicking issue waiting to happen.
I saw some cute apoth jars at walmart with frosted snow flakes in the christmas isle.
-
I've seen candles made with wood wicks and wanted to buy one just to try it but not at the price they were asking. I'm still really curious though.
-
I may be a little late helping but the size tap that you need is an 18 (18 threads per inch). I found Home depot and lowes to be no help at all. In fact, they didn't even have a 19/32 drill bit.

Thanks for all of the help. Fillmorecontainer.com was the site I was looking for. Thanks again!

Can anyone tell me where I can buy lids for mason jars in small quantities? Forgot the website that I used to go to .
New Box Wax With Water In It
in General Candle Making Discussions
Posted
I bought a box of wax from a supplier who will remain unnamed and it had water between each slab of wax. No water damage to the box. Should I be stuck with this wax? I'm boiling the water out but I don't really have time for this crap; the weekend is getting really close.
Has anyone else had to deal with this?
