Definately get the pouring pots! They are less messy than improvised ones. If you need additives (vybar, UV inhibitor) BCN has a very inexpensive all-it-one additive.

I had my dad make me one.

I love those!

Congrats on first batch!

Your gel candles will be safer if you use the correct wax, wicks, and FO. I only use Penreco gel and gel safe FO's.

Gorgeous!

FYI- if any of you are members of the soapdish forum, I have a tutorial with pics on how to make these.

I use the gelwix from BCN. They come in small, med, and large.
My gel candles burn about 3 times longer than paraffin.

I haven't made any fall soaps yet, but you got me thinking of pumpkin and cranberry! Yum.

I bought a big jug a couple years ago and put it with bath salts to make a sore foot soak with tea tree and patch EO.

I use ezsoy. I mostly make ice cream candles and it works well. I like that I can get it from BCn which is somewhat close to me.

I think what you talking about is just done by buying the right mold. Let me know if you can find a pic.

If you live near Michael's or Hobby lobby, you could get MP soap base.

Love the crinkly edges!
-
Are you talking about ones with dome tops and beveled edges? You can get a mold that does that. I have a polycarbonate mold that makes a domed to with edges.

Really pretty!

Very pretty! All of it:grin2:

I just use soy for my cappuccinos- it's a lot cheaper than gel.

Does everyone use PKO??

I don't use PKO right now and my soap is very hard. I just up the coconut a little or use lard. Sometimes, I use soy or beeswax at 5-10% to get a super hard bar.
