He wants a wall full of open flames, huh? Guess what's gonna happen when some woman comes along who likes to go heavy on the hairspray, and she stands a bit too close.

Today I mixed cinnamon with red currant in a dark red pillar. I love how it came out--neither too spicy nor too fruity.

I feel the same way. 1343 is a lot more versatile and doesn't form as many blisters.

I really like the blue one. When I make my "flake" candles I sometimes leave a solid layer on the bottom, but I hadn't made up my mind whether I liked the look. Seeing yours done that way made me really like it.

I make lots of unscented pillars, all sizes, shapes and colors. I've found that wicking is easy when you're not using fragrance oil or mineral oil. For example, a 2/0 square braid works great in all my unscented 3" round pillars no matter which wax or recipe I use. They don't curl or mushroom, so I can marathon burn without babysitting the wick. And as long as there's no draft, they don't get blow outs.

As for safety issues, you mentioned they'd be placed on shelves on a wall. For one thing, wallboard and paint are flammable, so I'd be concerned about how close they'll be to the wall. Also, if a shelf is placed above another shelf, heat will build up from the candle below. A wood shelf could catch fire and if it's a glass shelf, the heat will make it crack. (Unfortunately I learned this the hard way.)

I know what stuff you're talking about. When hydrated, it looks like smelly jelly. Maybe it's the same stuff with different packaging.

Rustics are strange in that they turn out different for everyone. We can all follow the same instructions with the same ingredients, and some of us will get heavy frost, some just a little and some none at all. (And some of us get a frosty surface that's smooth and shiny--cool looking, but not actually "rustic".) Go figure.

They all look great, but that yellow one is so unique!

Great colors. That's my #1 favorite scent.

I liked how in the early days of the gallery everyone revealed their recipes and techniques. But I understand that now peeps are selling their candles for a living so they wouldn't want to reveal their trade secrets.

I think 5 hours on a 2" diameter is pretty darn good. What size wick are you using?
