  1. Hi. I've been reading the search items about design and graphics etc. I am sort of confused. I want to use different frames, bars etc. on my photo hurricanes. On different internet selling sites, they seem to have quite a variety. I want to add hearts, sayings, flowers etc. Can I buy a program that I can use for these or how do you finally come up with a design that can be used legally? I understand I can't use other's designs as far as copyright laws but I can't see me trying to hand draw all these things either. There must be some answer as many products sold online have them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA. Beth

  2. Thanks so much for the advice. My "last" was better, but still came out with two marks, so I will try the towel idea as I think it is the ice also. I think I like my round ones better for some reason. I've been floating the picts in the presto and transferring them to the cane. Maybe that added some air...but if I have them all in the mold, the second or third tends to lie on the bottom and get stuck in the hardening wax. I'll try propping them with skewers. Thanks again. Beth

  3. I have made this 5 or 6 times. Usually one or two of the photos do well, but the last one or two don't. It is like I get air behind the photo copy and it leaves random marks and or bubbles. Using 1260 with micro added. Pour at 200-210 degrees. First try used cold cloth, but before I could get the next two in place, the first would partially fall off. Then went to ice cubes and that works better, but still getting funny marks (looks like wax covered air inside, but not pits on the outside). Could that come from re-rubbing over the photo with my wooden spoon when trying to re-stick part of it? Can't figure how I'm getting new air in as I am keeping the spoon in the wax at all times. Any suggestions would be welcome as I am melting this down AGAIN! :( It is for a good friend and I really want it to turn out special. TIA. Beth

  4. I understand the 4045H mottles. But what is the difference between the 4045 and the 4045EP? It seems Candlewic no longer carries the plain 4045 or is it the same as the EP? Seemed a lot of folks liked the plain 4045 which I do not see on their site. Also, what does "wider cut" paraffin mean? Just trying to lean more about wax and didn't have much luck on google. Thanks. Beth

  5. Hi. I just want to say I think the eco 10 might be to large. Seems when I tried JJs and 415 (which I think might need a bit bigger wick than c3) I was using an eco 6 or 8 for real hard to burn fragrances. That was with 6-8% FO which can also be the cause of that problem as Meridith mentioned. Hth. Beth

P.S. meant Meridith also mentioned to much Fo and to large of a wick as a cause and I was agreeing with her even though it didn't quite sound like it on a re-read.

  6. I know it seems to be expensive to just get the samples, but it really saves in the long run. I have 1/2 a cupboard full of 16 oz. that I really don't like or throw rather poorly. But, I hated to pay the high amount for the samples and shipping so ended up with more cost in the long run. Look in the classifieds and see if you can pick up a bunch of samples there from the companies you want to chack out...usually more reasonable. Just an idea. Beth

  7. I'll try a 27. I know I could hug it, just thought most candles sould burn down without it if properly made and wicked. It started out without a bulge and then got bigger and bigger as it burned down. Candle seems a bit "greasy" and figured most people wouldn't want to get their hands oily. Beth

  8. Back working on pillars after starting all over...with a notebook. This pillar was 6" (give or take) tall. 1274 wax with 3 Tbsp stearic, color, and maybe 4-5% FO/lb. Sometimes I do question my scale. Wicked with a twisted 24 FB. Haven't touched it except to trim wick every 3-4 hours or so. Burned from 3 to 6 hours at a time. Throw was barely ok. No smoking except if strong air movement as long as I did the trim. So where do I go now? Would look nicer if it didn't pooch out. Hurricanes are sure a lot easier! Thanks. Beth

  9. I've read the old posts and I to had some of the bubble issues. So the last one I just applied and then overdipped in wax after several hours of drying. I tried to goggle the decal set but only got groups of decals. Do you think the bubbles can still show up after being coated in wax? I wanted to take this and several others to a craft fair on Friday, but don't want to sell if they could ruin it later. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Here's a pict but haven't leveled bottom or top. But do want to do more of this type if I can get this worked out as I really like the mix. TIA. Beth
