  1. Thanks a bunch for your replies. I think I will try the 44's and see if that works well for me.:smiley2: I have tested a few scents to the end and have not had any problems besides the jar being very hot. I have not had any catch on fire. Is fire a common thing if you burn to the bottom using to big of a wick?
  2. Hello everyone. I am a little, no a bunch confused :undecided about which wick to use. I want to use zinc. At this time I use the 51-32-18z in Joywax. I am afraid that it might be to hot. The jar is definitely hot to the touch while burning. Which zinc wick do you use for an 8oz jj with 2-1/2 opening.
  3. I have a favorite candle scent. It is carrot cake made by warm glow candle co. I used to get the small grubby votives. Does anyone know of a fragrance dupe. I have tried NG carrot cake and it is nothing like it. I also like home interiors Baked Apple Pie. Does anyone know a dupe of that one. Thanks:smiley2:
  4. My first few batches of Joy wax did not frost this bad. They had the same lot #. This # was different. I think it is the batch of wax. I melt the cracks also. It works but sometimes leaves a not to noticable sink hole. How much crisco did you use?
  5. Has anyone added vybar to the joy wax with good results? Or any soy wax? I was having frosting in some container candles. When I used the vybar (1/4 tsp per lb) there were cracks in my candles and the smooth appearence of the top was gone. Is this common?
  6. The wick is mushroomed. I think I may have trimmed the wick to short. I lit it again today and did not trim so short. It seemed to work better. I always have cracks around the wick. I just heat with a heat gun the next day and it is fine.
  7. Hello I am using Joy wax in an 8oz jelly jar container with a 2-1/2 inch diameter. I am using 1 oz fo per pound. I am using the 6" (51-32-18 zinc wick). It took 4-1/2 hours for a full melt pool, by that time the wick is mushroomed and ready to be put out and I feel the scent throw should be stronger. Has anyone used this wax and have any wick ideas?:undecided
  8. Thank you again everyone for your help and inputs. What kinds of molds can I use for making tarts. I know nothing about molds. I have never used them.:smiley2: could I use muffin pans and if I do will the tarts come out.
  9. Thank you to all. It is nice to know I will have help to do this. Where did you get your clamshells for your tarts?
  10. Hello everyone! I have started to make candles. I have only made a few. I need to get different wicks. Now I want to make tarts. I am using the joy wax from natures garden. Is this ok to use for tarts? Thank you!
