  1. You should exercise the same caution with FOs. EOs are not some magical thing - they are a blend of chemicals just as FOs are. With the exception that the creation and use of FOs is generally guided by IFRA.

I don't know why people think that EOs are necessarily

    - safer

    - more dangerous

    - therapeutic

    as compared to FOs.

For safety, you need to follow the rules (common sense or otherwise) for both.

IFRA publishes guidelines/restrictions for eos as well.

I completely agree! I am not sure which is more scarier! lol

I wish they had more regulations on EO's- they can be so toxic and alot of people think because they are pure they are perfectly safe....

    common sense is a must:)

    Good education is the key.

  2. HELP!!

Searching everywhere to find the Black Tea fo that General Wax carried. It's no longer on their website! I've emailed but yet to hear back and now I must wait until Tuesday to call them.

I'm drawing a total blank on the fo mfg that they carry, I used to have it in my favorites, but my new computer killed all that.

It's one of my best sellers and I will cry if it's not available anywhere.

    TIA for any info.

Pretty sure they sourced from Belle-Aire Fragrances.

  3. HUH? What does this mean? Did they reformulate it or what? OR, are you talking about the perfume? I know they have a newer one out, but I thought it was called something else. ??

The newer one is called, "L de Lolita Lempicka".

My review was for the original, "Lolita Lempicka" that WSP discontinued.

  4. It is almost impossible to refute claims that are made because there is very little hard data to support EITHER position! I have never polled "health-minded candle lovers" for their opinions, so what do I know about the reasons they have for choosing soy-based wax candles?

See what I mean?:wink2: Despite the fact that it makes me wanna barf, people are free to write it and to read it and to believe it or not... The government doesn't give a crap one way or the other!

PuhLEEZE! I lost my belief in our government's defense of "truth in advertising" at least 30 years ago!!! If companies can get away with advertising male enhancement products on television, there's no hope of getting a complaint about marketing BS about soy-based wax candles cleaned up...

The problem isn't the government not policing the advertising industry, the problem is that the ethics of business owners allow them to make such bulls*** claims in the first place. If that's what a company has to do to make people buy, they are considered clever, successful and good marketers, not liars and manipulators.

It is OUR acceptance and participation in the lack of ethics that is the problem. The only solution is to not buy from companies who market their products with a healthy dose of bovine fertilizer.

No, the problem is that most are passive, just swallow it and do nothing.

I on the other hand, would challenge it.

Make outrageous claims and untruths targeted at my customer base, trust me, I will come after you.

  5. That's right where my head starts to spin around and the green pea soup thing happens...*faint* A real "trigger" for me is the "no soot, no smoke" allegations about soy-based waxes. Do people not understand the concept of combustion of hydrocarbons? Like where there's smoke, there's fire and vice versa? :rolleyes2 Then there's the "helping the poor American soy farmer" thing... OMG, it just sets me OFF... I think I feel angrier at the "all-natural" hype because it takes advantage of a basically good concept and corrupts it with the same greedhead, capitalist marketing bull as any other product marketed to manipulated "consumers".

OK. I'm gonna chill.:lipsrseal It's like talking to some young adults - sometimes there is simply not enough energy to plow through the bull to find the switch that MAY turn on the brain. :meditate:

I kid you not, just ran into this one the other day:

"Soy candles are the preferred choice for the health-minded candle lover because of the natural properties it emits into the air...............

Live a healthier life…burn soy candles."

    Who knew? ;)

  6. Not sure. I begged for it, lol! It is truly the only grapefruit I found that did not give a funky smell, that was super true and threw like a bugger in my soy. Even though it was a grapefruit/mint, the mint was just a slight hint. It was flat out like you had cut open a grapefruit without any sweet vanilla-y along with it. I have about 1/4 of an ounce which I will probably take to my grave. It was not a HUGE seller for me, but it was a very steady summer staple, not to mention it was my absolute favorite.

It threw incredibly for everyone and nope, no hint of fuel. I am baffled.

You might want to try WYW's Vanilla Grapefruit. It is strong, 3% is what I use in paraffin.

  7. I have searched high and low for this dupe, I know it's out there because I have seen etailers with it.

I looked at GoldStar and Exotic Fragrances=the two places I thought might, unless it is named something else.

Does anyone know if this exists? Thanks a bunch!

    Try RA.

  8. I believe in my post I stated that I was obligated to the first 500 free and then I changed my website to a 'sign up for account' and 20 names per week will be drawn for free samples.

I am not 'giving away the store' but until someone else comes up with a way to sniff through the internet, all and all, freebies are kind of cheap marketing plan.

The gentleman mentioned wrote a book. Instead of selling it initially, he allowed folks to download it for free for 30 days. It created so much chatter about the product that when he printed it, copies sold placed it #5 on Amazon.com bestseller list.

Like I said before. This was not planned. It happened. Now it is my job to parlay it into a great opportunity. For starters, sticking to our word of when it says First One's Free, we do it.

Now we pray and work hard.

    C.

The strategy involved in marketing is just that; a well thought out plan.

The crucial point that was overlooked and not mentioned in the link you provided is when offering anything free you need to target a *select* market, i.e., people who would most likely BUY your product, certainly not the entire worldwide web.

As far as undoing the damage in your particular situation, I'd add some targeted guilt into your recovery plan. All that have taken thus far, has to be a few that are not completely without shame.

Best of luck to you. If nothing else, you have a valuable lesson to learn by. :smiley2:

  9. Someone that I know, knows a lady that makes candles & she puts sugar cookie mix in the wax. I have never heard of this!:shocked2: I assume that it is the dry mix. She has bought one from her before & she says it smells good...

Clever lady. What a perfect reply to, "mind if I ask where you get your sugar cookie fo?" :cool2:

  10. CBL-129 should be heated initially to 190° - 200°F.

To top off you want to get close to those temperatures.

The key with this wax is to pour hot. When I used this wax, I heated to 200°F.

Can't see how a formulation issue that occurred several years ago and was corrected could be relevant to your outcome now?

Of course should your problems persist despite following the hot guidelines, definitely give Candlewic (Ellen or Bill Binder) a call.
