  1. I have been working with these (forever waterslide decals candles) for about 6 months now if not more & well i have been having trouble with the waterslide decals peeling after about 2 months or so......do you have this problem & if so how do you resolve this? I need help...

I spray with finsihing spray, maybe just not enough????

    yours are beautiful though....good work

  2. They would be better if they had ARMY ranks on them:p

    Looks great!

Finally an "ARMY" post...Yes, much better if it was Army, but I'm not putting the air force down...my sister is in the air force.

what about a W-2 rank...make any of those...Army Warrant Officer

where do you get your molds???

  3. You weigh the wax, pour it into the Presto and turn it on. :D The non-stick coating is not great, so be careful to use only plastic or silicon tools to stir or the coating will begin to fleck off and you'll be posting about "what are the little black specks in my wax":laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:I recently got a silicon whisk that if I had had when the pots were new, I'd not have to strain my wax now. :undecided

The thermostat starts at warm, then 200°F and up. With soy, you won't ever need to turn it up much past warm. A candy thermometer will clip right on the side nicely, as temperature MATTERS with veggie waxes.

Some folks install spigots on theirs (the link above) and some folks choose to ladle - I'm a ladler. Both methods have pluses and minuses, but for production, the spigots would have to be faster...:wink2: Just depends on how large your batch is (the absolute max I can melt in mine is 8#) and whether you are using pour pots to mix your colors & fragrances, or whether you are doing a big batch of all the same kind. It's a very versatile tool for the home chandler.:D

So go getchoo one and have fun. The next thing you know, you'll be eyein' turkey fryers...:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

AWWWWWW.....A turkey fryer.....ShariG is trying to get me to get one....maybe one day....:D

  4. Yes it is a kiosk in the PX...we are lucky to have such a great PX most are not like that. as for deals...you have to look for them, They carry nothing but name brand items so sometimes it does get expensive.

As for the relationship Shari & I have, it is a very good one. We met about 1 year ago actually here on CT. I moved here to Ky & she just lives about 45 minutes away. Her husband is also in the military so we have allot in common. We both love the passion for making candles & both had never thought about even doing shows until we met each other. We love doing them together. We get along great, don't fight over money or who sold the most products..its just great to have such a great friend that shares the same passion as I do. lol

Thanks for the comments about our set up...we are still learning how to do things as far as shows are concerned...but its fun learning. It was Sharis idea about the hearts on the stands..they were actually for the name tags, but decided to place her hearts on them. Turned out to be a pretty good idea. Wish I could figure out how to dispay my pillars better. Any ideas???? :D

  5. The show went fairly well. But....I did not sell one Palm pillar or votive! There was more country type products so my tins and mason jars sold well. Once I get back home I will update with pics.

My last show is Tuesday, maybe I will sell some palm pillars there.:undecided

I did a show back in Oct. & sold about $90 worth of palm pillar (forevers) & my friend sold over $200 worth of masons..I guess its just the containers ppl like. The following weekend I did another show sold 3 pillars...Again ppl were saying how gorgeous, but no one bought...Don't understand...

    Good luck Tuesday!!!!

P.s. I'd buy from you...if i already didn't make them...lol Yours are beautiful! What wick do you use? Just curious...i'm using 2/0 from Cierra Candles & Supplies for my 3 inch diameter & loving the little thin shell its leaving for the glow effect.

  6. That is what I make and have been selling for some time now. I just thought I'd give these one last shot. People have been requesting ones they can burn, too.

Have you ever had a forever melt around the tea light? I had one melt the other day. but i have test burned a whole batch & nothing, ut this one melted like crazy right around the glass tea light (to where i could pull out the glass)....

  7. Looks really good Kay! The pillars sell a lot better when they can see them! How did the forever ones sell? I've been selling some, people seem to be catching on to the idea of them:cheesy2: Have fun at your next show!!

My white & brown ones sold the most. I only sold 1 red one. No other colors sold. EVERYONE was picking up the Square white pillars...Looks like i'll be making some more.

CS is out of starburst & i had to buy from candlewic, but i'm having trouble getting the candles out of the mold...man its frustrating. I only have 3 more days left...

  8. I really like how you have your table arranged and the risers. The only suggestion I would have is unwrap some of your pillars maybe.

Its funny you said that..about half way through I unwrapped 1 of each color & man they started selling. We also took some lids off the jars too...That helped as well.

  9. It looks good but I keep coming back to you have coats on if you have to wear coats it too cold for me to do an outside show. So kudos to you for having the guts to do it.

We were freezing..Friday it rained & was about 45..Saturday was alot better. I think it got to 60 & partly sunny.

This weekend our show is inside, but of course its suppose to be 70 & sunny..:P

  10. Kay,

I love the set up- very neat and organized, well-spaced. The pumpkins are cute, too. :D

    Violet

Yes, the pumpkins are cute....they are Shair's. Thanks for the kind words. We want honest opinions, but be nice..lol :smiley2:

It is fun with 2 ppl..you can chit chat while its slow...:P

  11. Ok, ShariG & I did our first craft fair last weekend. We did failrly good for our first. The first day was rainy & cold & yes we were outside. :( So needless to say, we didn't make much Friday, but Saturday was allot better,

We learned allot too (wouldn't you say ShariG?) We have another one coming up this weekend & with what we learned from last weekend, I'm hoping we make even more. :)

Even though we barely broke even, i have to say we both had allot of fun. :yay:

  12. Very very nice! I too am in love with the caramel (gold) colored pillars! How much do you sell those for?

Are they really strongly scented, or basically just for looks? What scent did you do the gold ones in, if scented.

i normally don't scent those since i make the scented tea lights too. If you scent the pillar, the different tea light scents clash....but I do scent them if wanted. I have one brown one in my bathroom & its scented caramelized pralines...MMmmmm, man it smells good. Makes me hungry every time i go in there, lol

I sell those 3 inch diameters for $13.95 with a 6 pack of tea lights in your choice of scent. The 4 inch ones are $14.95. I just started selling those...making sure the pillars dont melt.

  13. I made a forever palm pillar and it melted with the tealight :( Lisa (jakalex) told me to mix glass glow with my starburst to raise the melt point so they won't melt. I will try another one adding the glass glow.

    Yours are gorgeous!!!

I'm having a little melting, but not much...i just burned like 3 tea lights the other day & after looking there IS some melting around the edge, but not enough to worry about.

  14. Kay, those do look fantastic. Who do you order your feather and starburst palm wax from? I have feathering palm from Swan's but they don't have the starburst.

I get all my stuff from CandleScience, but right now they are out til Nov. 20th so having to get my order from Candlewic. (another great place)

  15. I promised pictures of when I got my lightbox set up. Here it is… finally found a permanent home for it. This is set up on a shelf in the hall in the basement. I need to make some adjustments, get the lights more to the front of the box, but other than that It works good. And yes, that’s a plain old incandescent bulb in the top light. The cat decided he needed to play with the flood light before I had things set up.

The next two pictures are taken with this set up.

As a daughter n law, i have to put in my 2 cents...

    I LOVE"EM & I'M JEALOUS!!!!!!

Her stuff is not suppose to better then mine...lol

Your doing great Cheryl...& I am so very jealous.

I love the soap by the way...:P

  16. Here is a pic. of a couple of my rock candles that I was selling at my craft show this past weekend for the first time. I had a few sales, tons of comments. The pics. don't do them justice. Let me know what you think....
