  1. Well, the only way to be certain is to report it to eBay for Shill Bidding -- so I did. We shall see what happens. If it is shill bidding, ebay will cancel the auction and reprimand the seller. One of my pet peeves is shill bidding!

Just some info on shill bidding:

    -----------------------------

Shill Bidding is bidding that artificially increases an item’s price or apparent desirability, or bidding by individuals with a level of access to the seller’s item information not available to the general Community. Shill bidding is prohibited on eBay.

Because family members, roommates and employees of sellers have a level of access to item information which is not available to the general Community, they are not permitted to bid on items offered by the seller–even if their sole intent is to purchase the item. Family members, roommates or employees may purchase items from a seller without violating this policy simply by using purchase options–such as Buy It Now–which do not involve bidding.

eBay strongly encourages sellers with employees to ensure that their employees are aware of this policy and the possible consequences of violation.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

    Listing cancellation

    Limits on account privileges

    Account suspension

Forfeit of eBay fees on canceled listings

    Loss of PowerSeller status

    Referral to Law Enforcement

  2. Probably a stupid question, but.....do you use your roaster for CP or HP soap? I am wondering because I only do oven HP soap (i hate to wait LOL) and I want to try this, do you think it will work?

    Hugs, Branda

I just use my roaster to melt and contain my masterbatch oils. When I first started soaping, I only did HP (crockpot, oven). The roaster would be perfect for HP.

  3. That is a fabulous idea.

What do you do with your lye? Do you also make a master batch of that, or just make it up as needed then measure out your oils.

I would never attempt that. I do make my lye mixture the night before to soap the next day. RT soaping is unbeatable! I make up to 4 lye mixtures in 4 different containers when I have new scents to pour or soap line to replenish. Making my master batch this way has totally made my life easier and my soaping really enjoyable.

  4. Thank you so much for posting this. I have 3 of those roasters that we got back when we used to host our biker group meetings and needed to feed a crowd. They've been sitting idle for the most part, and now I will make good use of at least one!

You're welcome! Maybe, someone who caught on to this tip would like to buy the rest from you. :smiley2:

  5. There's nothing you can do with stearic acid that can't be accomplished by simply adjusting the oils in your recipe to make a harder bar.

I agree wholeheartedly! I love being a "soap chemist" -- to be able to adjust certain oils in your formulation to come up with a perfect bar of soap or according to your preferences.

  6. I bought an 18 qt roaster oven a year ago with the intentions of using it to melt soaping oils. Besides, it was on sale :). I must tell you that it's on the top of my must have equipment for soap making. I have used it twice to melt and contain 30 lbs of my "master batch" -- I don't have to pour the melted oils in a separate container. Just melt all your oils, stir it well, let it cool then cover. It really comes in handy now that my business is taking off. I've already gone through 60 lbs of oils for my very popular Lushie soap line. I will be filling it up today for the 3rd time.

    Oh yeah, here's a pic. :)

  7. Actually, there is also a slight odor from the light castor oil but much stronger in the dark oil. I called Colorado Organics and offered to return the oil. The gentleman said that he will refund my full purchase price but I get to keep the oil. He even encouraged me to make a batch with it. I'll make a 2 lb batch and see what happens. I ran out of my master batch which I will replenish as soon as I determine the quality of this castor oil.

I'm very impressed with Colorado Organics' customer service. It's my first purchase from them. It was refreshing to speak to a human being (not a machine) on my first phone call.

  8. I just received a gallon of castor oil that I purchased from Colorado Organics. It is so much darker than the castor oil I purchased from WSP. Furthermore, it has an odor of coffee beans. Any opinions on this? Should I return it? Here's a pic -- dark oil is from Colorado Organics and the lighter one is from WSP.

  9. I love it! Simple yet elegant. Not to busy, it's easy on the eyes, even these old eyes of mine. Nice description of scents and great pictures.

The only thing I'd like to see is a picture of your roll on perfume. I'm a visual person, I have a hard time buying when I can't see the product.

Excellent feedback, thank you! I'm trying to figure out where I can place a photo of the roll on perfume without appearing too cluttered or out of place. I really like the scent pics to stay because they provide a beautiful interpretation of the fragrance. I'll see what I can do. Thanks again. :smiley2:

  10. Very nice website! But, I only have a few comments....

When you cursor over a category it disappears (text goes to a white color).

Website backgrounds are very light, can barely make out the "pure" at the top and the stripes are hard to define, etc...

Love the font and the pics are really nice too!

    Crisp and clean!

    HTH

    Carrie

Thanks Carrie. I darkened the hover color a bit (to a darker pink). Do you think that's better? The background graphics is very clear on my monitor so I left it be. Sometimes a small monitor may alter the the colors and background a bit. Thanks again for your feedback. :smiley2:

  11. Thank God.. I would have felt awful if you went in to change it upon my suggestion and lost all your work!! Whew!!!

I like it much better since you fixed it and can access all your products on one page. You get to see them all right away..

Going to 6 different pages is time consuming and customers for the most part may not even go to page 6 .. Ya know....

Your cart looks better centered?? Do you like it that way?? :smiley2:

You are the most helpful person I know! Yes, I do like the cart centered. I also like all of the products in one page -- see, I would not have realized that potential customers would find it tedious to browse through several pages of products. Most helpful suggestions, thank you so much!!

  12. I've never heard anything bad about Designer 218. I think this is the program I have decided to use when I am ready to finally get a site up. The thought of the whole process just overwhelms me though. But after having priced what it would cost to have someone build a site for me, I do believe this is the way to go.

Good luck with the rebuild Trish. :smiley2:

Welcome to the club! Actually, I just started with them and I'm currently building my site -- very easy so far. Considering I've never built my own website before, this is very user friendly. I ordered last Sunday and my site was up on Monday. Mandi's customer service is top notch.
