I was wondering what do you all use to clean up the mess left behind from the oils and lotions? I didn't think I would ever get it all cleaned up today! LOL I have been using Dawn dish soap. It seems to work without leaving much residue. Is that my best bet, or is there anything else out there to help cut the grease better? Thanks!

I'm in the Buffalo area. I talked my mom into taking a drive with me tomorrow. I figure I need to go grocery shopping anyway. I used to love shopping there when I lived close! I can always find extra stuff I don't need when I'm there!

Its a bit of a drive to the nearest Super Walmart. But for those savings I think I will be worth the trip! LOL I'll check it out! Thanks!

Where do you all buy your coconut oil. In local stores or off the internet. The only place I can find it around home is the health food store. The price just went up, it is now $20 for 29 oz. If I order a case of six, I can save $40. Is this a reasonable price or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!

I'm having trouble using search today. So please forgive me if this is a commonly asked question! I saw some red palm oil at the health food store today. It was on clearance so I bought some. Can it be used for soap, I see regular palm oil listed all the time are they interchangeable? It is red in color with little seeds thru out. TIA

I just made my first CPHP, it turned out really good. OK, the color is a little bit funky. But, I can live with that! It was so easy, behaved exactly as it was supposed to do. Now I'm ready to make some more. I need to go take stock of what oils I have left then go play with lye calculator and see what I can make! LOL:yay:

Thank you all for your help! I'm glad to know that I can use it, now it just means I can make more soap! I'm going too start with HP in a crockpot. I've read the directions over and over,hopefully it works! I liked the fact that HP was safer to handle right away. I don't have alot of storage space for curing that is out of the reach of inquisitive little fingers. I did stash my lye on a high shelf in the garage. But, I'm afraid that it might be too damp out there in the winter for the soap itself. I hope to do it on Sun. when dh is off work, to give me a hand if I need it. I will let you all know how it turns out! Thanks!!

Hello all! I'm so new at this I haven't even made soap yet! :rolleyes2 Actual I've done MP for awhile, but now I am ready to try CP and HP. I plan on starting this weekend. I have a question about some oil I have though.I needed some olive oil, and realized after I got home I had gotten an oil blend! I have since gotten some regular olive oil, but I hate to waste the other bottle. It is 85% sunflower oil and 15% olive oil. I don't know how to calculate this. Any help for a newbie would be much appreciated! TIA Brydean
