  1. Lots of things to think about with laser printers. Im a hp fan, you can check out my ebay and see i have bought 3 in the past 6 weeks. I love the hp 4550 models.(I put a 10gig hard drive in the back of it and dont even need a computer to print out my labels now.. it stores them all) I picked up a hp 8500 and its ok, but way way too big (300# machine). The only one I bought new was a hp4600N that is faster then the others because each color has its own drum. The others share a drum and it has to take the colors off the transfer belt one at a time. (4 passes instead of one)

The higher the copies per month they are rated, the more toner you will get and the better longer drum, transfer and fuser life.

The thing about the 4600 that I just got, it was like 525.00 new with everything. If I went to buy replacement toners it would cost me about the same amount that it did for the whole thing new. I really think the best way to do it is to buy new and sell it on ebay when the toners run low and just get another newer model. You can refill them, but have to replace drum memory chips so it gets costly even refilling. If you can get 8000 copies from a set of toners, that should last you for a few years, but some machines only do 1500 on a set of toner. Check the amount of copies the toner carts are rated at before you buy and how much the replacement ones cost.

    confused yet?

  2. You probably are all referring to different types and makes of trimmers!

If I remember Carmen coop right, these are the same. The other brand I have seen also are made the same way with a rivet, so I am thinking they would tighten up the same way. It makes them like new again. Just make sure its laying flat on the anvil on the rivet when you hit the other side of the rivet. If you hit it too hard it will get too tight and you will have to put oil on it and open and close it several times.

  3. Mine has a pivot point.... rivet that keeps it tight. When it gets loose I just lay it on a anvil and tap one end of the rivet with a hammer while the other rests on the anvil.

I think that mine would be almost impossible to sharpen, I use mine to trim all my wicks on finished candles and the one i have has done about 30,000 trims on nonburned wicks, i tap it about once every 4 months.

  4. I have seen that company before and really liked the potpourri they had. I had the same thought as you, and wondered if it would be a good seller since it looks much nicer than the other junk i have seen out there. Then i started to track down where to buy in bulk to maybe make my own and I guess I just lost interest in it. It not cheap thats for sure and if its the same price for scented or unscented..?

Still not sure about it, but I did like the looks of their mixes.

  5. We are going to try to run up there and see you all. We didnt pay for anything, so we might have to stand outside and wave to you all... but thats fine with me. :D

We have another gathering going on that Friday Sat and Sun, so we dont know if we will get there friday or saturday. Anyone that wants to pm a cell # to us so we can find you all if its friday when we get there would be great, or I can pm mine to whoever wants it.

Any peeps that want me to bring something for them, just let me know.

Trades and swaps are welcome, I always like new stuff to try out. :P

I do have about 3 or 4 hundred samples of scents that I can bring and let peeps sniff.

  6. Look how thick that metal is that the mold is made from and its for sure welded and not soldered so its either stainless steal or aluminum. I bet that sucker weights about 25 or more pounds empty too?

I paid good money for dip tanks about that wide and tall to be made for me out of stainless and they cost me 45.00 each. Let us know how much they weigh and I bet that will help on figuring the value.

  7. Put your oven on Pam, let the stove top wax melt then just wipe off!!

Although I think it "could" have been water, if I read it correctly you were using direct heat. That is ver bad no matter if it is a coffe urn or whatever. WAX CANNOT BE HEATED DIRECTLY!! Why? Because the bottom heats way to fast and the top is still cool, hence "Ol faithful" . Becareful, and get your self a presto pot!!

Yep, what tess said now that I think about it.

I have had customers tell me about candles that they sat on melters and they would blow from the melting expanding wax on the bottom building up pressure. Maybe a little water in there too. I have probably melted more wax with direct heat than any one else here and never had a blow up that didnt involve water in the wax. BTW presto pots are direct heat also, ever wonder what would happen if the thermostat went out and the presto went crazy?

  8. I don't mean to bust anyones bubble.....but I was looking into making pinecone firestarters a couple of years ago. My cousin is the captain of the Fire Department, so I asked him about the safety of these. He told me that pinecones are NOT to be burned in fireplaces in your home, under any circumstances. Bottom line, the sap (Creosote) builds up in the fireplace flu very quickly, and causes fires in the flu of your chimney. I asked him about the alternative of making sawdust muffins and he said this is much safer, but still should only be used occasionally. Both however are GREAT for starting campfires and smelling wonderful when camping or having a bonfire outside!!

    :D

I agree with Darla on this one. I made them a few years ago just for decorations and they looked and smelled great. For fire starters I use straw or wick trimmings with the scented wax.

  9. Good Morning everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me out here.. I have been trying to design my own catalog for a show that I have coming up next month.. I'm using print shop (used for years) and am using the booklet layout but for some reason I'm having a heck of a time trying to add pages.. I follow the help topics but it still don't work for me...I'm hoping someone here can help me with adding pages....

Mine will not let me add pages either, but if you make a menu layout instead of a booklet and mark it double sided you can use that and add pages with the insert button and page is then an option at the bottom of the drop down.

The page you insert will be the back side of the first page, then you can do the same thing and insert 2 more pages if you want more than just a front and back of one sheet.

  10. Just a note, the direct heat melter's are NOT recommended for leaving on days at a time with out supervision.

Unless you buy one used direct heat start at a little over 500.00 and go up from there. The 100# one I bought last fall was free shipping, but it still cost me over a thousand dollars. My temps are off from what the actual dial shows also, so be sure to use a thermometer in ANY melter you get. I set it at 145 and it goes up to over 200F in no time, so you have to really watch the direct heat ones. Its hard to melt a small amount of wax in it also, its just geared for large amounts of wax. If I wanted to melt 10# of wax, I would not use it, the melter will heat up the sides and start to smoke if you don't keep a eye on it. My melter also has a upper and lower temp control like candlemans does.
