  1. I have a wonderful recipe for body lotion. I tried it last week and it was great. I want to change one thing about it though, I want it to be more silky when it goes on my skin. My question is should I add a butter or an oil, like maybe vit. E? It already has shea butter in it and I thought of adding more shea or perhaps another butter. Sorry if this is a stupid ? but I am new to lotions. Tell me if u need recipe posted.
  2. Awesome soaps. I want to make soaps like you when I grow up:grin2:
  3. I'm sorry if someone already posted this link, but there were too many good recipes for me to pass up not posting this... http://www.soapmakersupplies.com/soapmaking/SoapRecipes_Home.html
  4. I can't seem to figure out how to post pics
  5. Hello Sassy and thanks for the info on the scale. Will have to buy one this week before my next batch. I think it might have been a mixture of too much cooking and a little too much lye. But I melted it down and added what I believed it was missing and I SAVED MY SOAP!!! I just cut it a few minutes ago and will try to post my pics.
  6. Well the soap smells great but it is too dry and flakey. I will have to remelt tomorrow and adjust my oils. I think i went too short with olive oil. I have a cheap WalMart scale that is not digital. I need a digital scale or a better set of eyes!
  7. yeah, the fan is sounding real good right now as I grow more and more impatient:mad:
  8. I am officially addicted to soaping!! I bought a nice piece of wood this weekend and told my hubby that he will be making me a mold. I made his weekend I'm sure with that news. He is not understanding the addictiveness (I think that's a word) of it yet. I think it is starting to sink in though.
  9. Yes I did tongue test and could feel it. How much fun it was though. The lye scared me and made me shake when I mixed it. But now that I went through the initiation process, it is not so bad. Just have to respect the lye.
  10. Hello all. I scented it with oatmeal honey and mixed with freshly ground oatmeal. Smells yummy:drool: It's been 4 hours now since I molded it and it is a little dry looking on top and can still taste lye...I think it might be lye heavy but need to wait for the UNMOLDING!!!!!!!
  11. Well, I finally did it! My first batch of HP. Boy, is it hard to wait for your soap to cool. I've been fighting the temptation to unmold it for hours now. I am just worried about my soap because I think it might be too dry. I could be just worrying too much though. MUST LEAVE IN MOLD AND WAIT...
  12. Hello Bunny! I am using eo's from NuScents. They have a good, strong fragrance. I bought eo's and regular fo's from them.
  13. Thanks for your reply...wish me luck. I guess a few batches under my belt will help me work the kinks out!
  14. Hello everyone. I wanted to thank everyone for all their wonderful posts as they have been very helpful to a NEWBIE! I am going to attempt my first batch of hp this weekend and feel pretty good so far with the instructions. I just have a question about essential oils...when is the best time to add them? I have made m&p a couple of times and don't feel my fragrance is strong enough. I have ruled out the burning ? of how much to put in per # of soap, I have even put in a little more. But I am wondering if it could be "burning off" as can happen with making candles or I am just an idiot and don't know what I am doing. I normally add the fo right before pouring and make sure it is mixed good. The soap I have made smells great and you can smell it when you are using it. But I want to be able to also smell it on me after I am done using it and the smell just doesn't stay with me. Sorry if this is a dumb ? but as of now, this is the only major problem, knock on wood, that I have encountered. Sorry for the length of this posting but I felt the need to ramble on and get this off my chest with you all who hopefully understand my problem and/or could offer some advice. Thanks to you all who have been extremely helpful to me! Also, I believe I am using good, strong eo's. Maybe suggestions for good eo's also would be helpful.
