  1. I'm looking to update my labels and make them a lot nicer than my own creative abilities allow me to make. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced, creative label making company? I've tried looking into purchasing a labelmaking software but I'm very dumb when it comes to choosing the right one and was thinking of the earlier mentioned option.

    Thanks so much!

    :yay:

  2. I only use dye for my votives... they look adorable in color but not for my container candles. In my opinion they are more "natural" that way. I would, however, like to experiment with some kitchen-type dyes... maybe cinnamon, coffee or oils I could obtain from other vegetables or fruits but that's in the future and I honestly don't know if it's even possible.

  3. Can anyone recommend an idiot proof, good software program for making my own labels? Right now I'm making them on my own and they look okay but I'd like to be able to use up all the space in the round labels (travel tins), for example. Or have any of you found that it's cheaper/easier to have them made professionally?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Just lurking as I hope to be needing a bigger melting pot as my demand increases. Do any of you work with soy wax? Would the wax get stuck in the spigot as much? Also, how do you pour from the presto pot to the pouring pots without getting the wax all over the floor? Just wondering... I'm getting a little tired from all the melting from the double boilers...

  5. I've been making candles for 2 yrs but it's been on and off... by no means do I feel like I know it all... in fact, I still have lots to learn. I've mostly been buying wax from candlewic and candlesupplies.com because it's the cheapest for me with the shipping and all (I'm in Puerto Rico). I've also bought from Peak. I am interested in trying out 444 sounds interesting!

  6. I am fotunate in that the chiropractors I work with are very open minded and naturalists, so when I pitched them the soy candles along with all the benefits vs paraffin... they were sold. I provide them with a couple of boxes of votives and an assortment of travel tins monthly but it's not a great quantity. They don't lose anything because I give it to them on consignment which means they don't pay up front for the candles but rather at the end of the month.

I don't make much money on them to tell you the truth but it's good to have them available there and as a result I've gotten clients from them where I've made candles for special ocassions such as a wedding and for Secretary's day... so in that respect it's been good (for referrals).

Also, I have a little frame with information on my candles sitting on their counter (advertisement).

I'd say try to sell them on the benefits of soy candles and then offer them a try out period of a couple of months where you'll provide them with a specific assortment of candles for them to try it out and see how their clients like it. I always give them an invoice specifying what I'm bringing them and what their cost is as well as Suggested retail price that way they have a clue what to sell it for and how much they can make.

    Good luck!

  7. How nice to see someone with similar interests! I'm a Massage Therapist myself and I make soy candles which I've been able to sell in the places I work at... namely in a chiropractor's office and in a Spa I work in ocassionally.

Unfortunately I don't have a REAL store nor do I know if I want one. However, I have thought about putting one of those wagon type carts Ive seen at some malls. It would be wood and all around the cart I'd have different colored votives mixed in with the glass containers and travel tins and some related stuff, like beaded votive containers for sale and maybe even some bath products.

  8. Hi all!

Just wanted to introduce myself after a year of absence.

I've been making soy candles for 2 years now and mostly do small weddings or special events and sell on an individual basis. Ocassionally I will sell them at small shops and have participated in Artisan Fairs and such.

I work glass jars, travel tins, votives and my favorite: recycled jars. I'm totally into helping save the environment and creating consciousness about our Earth.

I don't use additives or color to my container candles but on votives I do.

I'm looking to expand my business and get fresh ideas as well as make friends with fellow candlemakers.

Eventually I hope to learn to make other things such as: soap, lotions and scrubs but first want to feel a bit more confident in my candles.

    Thanks for letting me in!

  9. Hi everyone! I'm not new to candlemaking or candletech but I have been absent for over a year and now entering with another name... I used to be candlerookie...

Anyway, I wanted to know what ideas you may all have on putting a small bag/basket together for a prize I will be donating for my local community library's Raffle. I will be including travel tins and votives in a variety of scents and I wanted to keep away from placing them in a basket as that is so common.

So, any ideas? Maybe some neat gift bags or sacks or something?

    Thanks in advance,

    Monica
