  1. I'm looking to update my labels and make them a lot nicer than my own creative abilities allow me to make. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced, creative label making company? I've tried looking into purchasing a labelmaking software but I'm very dumb when it comes to choosing the right one and was thinking of the earlier mentioned option. Thanks so much!
  2. I only use dye for my votives... they look adorable in color but not for my container candles. In my opinion they are more "natural" that way. I would, however, like to experiment with some kitchen-type dyes... maybe cinnamon, coffee or oils I could obtain from other vegetables or fruits but that's in the future and I honestly don't know if it's even possible.
  3. I had exactly the same question... Just yesterday I was googling some sites and came across Eden Botanicals which seemed like an option. Has anyone tried their oils? Sorry I'm not too sure myself.
  4. Can anyone recommend an idiot proof, good software program for making my own labels? Right now I'm making them on my own and they look okay but I'd like to be able to use up all the space in the round labels (travel tins), for example. Or have any of you found that it's cheaper/easier to have them made professionally? Thanks in advance. mm
  5. I LOVE your website! Very clean, straight to the point. I'm working on mine too and now that I see yours, I realize how much I still have left to complete . Lots of success to you! mm
  6. You know the ones I;m talking about? Like the ones "Glade" uses to cover the top of the candles from gathering dust... I'm interested in making some glass container candles but find that unless they have a cover (like the jelly jars or the apothecary) they will gather dust. Please let me know which supplier provides this... TIA..
  7. Just lurking as I hope to be needing a bigger melting pot as my demand increases. Do any of you work with soy wax? Would the wax get stuck in the spigot as much? Also, how do you pour from the presto pot to the pouring pots without getting the wax all over the floor? Just wondering... I'm getting a little tired from all the melting from the double boilers... tia..
  8. I was wondering what y'all are doing to be covered by insurance? I am hoping to start marketing my candles a bit more now and to expand my business so I need some advice as to what coverage to get and what recommendations you could give me. Thanks in advance. Monica
  9. I've been making candles for 2 yrs but it's been on and off... by no means do I feel like I know it all... in fact, I still have lots to learn. I've mostly been buying wax from candlewic and candlesupplies.com because it's the cheapest for me with the shipping and all (I'm in Puerto Rico). I've also bought from Peak. I am interested in trying out 444 sounds interesting!
  10. That's very good Enigma! I think it'll be hard to get any better than that so I SECOND THAT! I tried but couldn't think of anything half way interesting.
  11. I am fotunate in that the chiropractors I work with are very open minded and naturalists, so when I pitched them the soy candles along with all the benefits vs paraffin... they were sold. I provide them with a couple of boxes of votives and an assortment of travel tins monthly but it's not a great quantity. They don't lose anything because I give it to them on consignment which means they don't pay up front for the candles but rather at the end of the month. I don't make much money on them to tell you the truth but it's good to have them available there and as a result I've gotten clients from them where I've made candles for special ocassions such as a wedding and for Secretary's day... so in that respect it's been good (for referrals). Also, I have a little frame with information on my candles sitting on their counter (advertisement). I'd say try to sell them on the benefits of soy candles and then offer them a try out period of a couple of months where you'll provide them with a specific assortment of candles for them to try it out and see how their clients like it. I always give them an invoice specifying what I'm bringing them and what their cost is as well as Suggested retail price that way they have a clue what to sell it for and how much they can make. Good luck!
  12. How nice to see someone with similar interests! I'm a Massage Therapist myself and I make soy candles which I've been able to sell in the places I work at... namely in a chiropractor's office and in a Spa I work in ocassionally. Unfortunately I don't have a REAL store nor do I know if I want one. However, I have thought about putting one of those wagon type carts Ive seen at some malls. It would be wood and all around the cart I'd have different colored votives mixed in with the glass containers and travel tins and some related stuff, like beaded votive containers for sale and maybe even some bath products.
