  1. Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitley check out the BC. I'm going to order a couple samples elsewhere and I'll be sure to let you know how I like them. I was also interested in those multi-bases. I was going to order a pound of two different formulas since they are only like $10 a pound w/shipping. Thanks for letting me know that! I had searched the boards and didn't find anything on it, so I wouldn't have even known otherwise! Sanitation is definitley a major concern for me...I'm so worried about sending out a batch and then they all end up molding a few months later. The soapdish forums are down for me right now, so forgive me if they already discussed this. Could I add some of my own perserative to the base? I would really like to try it out Thanks again everyone!
  2. As I'm getting more orders for lotions, I'm thinking that it's time that I try to order a lotion base rather than make it on my own...it seems to be more cost effective and a lott less time consuming. I want to try out a few different lotion samples, but with the cost of shipping on some of them, I wanted to narrow it down to a few that sound good I would like to do a fairly natural lotion (but it doesn't have to be), so I was thinking of trying one of Aquatechs. I am also looking into some of Jody's (soapandthings.com). I'm definitley willing to spend a pretty good amount of money if it's a good base btw. I've searched the boards and found a little bit of info on bases, but I was wondering if anyone has any other recomendations (on these bases or any others!) & I know there's so many - so definitley let me know if there's any lotion base that you didn't like so much. I appreciate it so much! Thanks!
  3. Thanks, Lisa! Haha the reason i was asking about the flavor oils was that I had some of jessica simpson's body spray and i just ran out (they went on sale & they're sold out now around here) & wanted to see if i could mix up a little of my flavor oil in the old bottle. I'll give it a try & let you know if it's any good! I'm sorry, I don't know if I missed something but is there supposed to be a link under that? I didn't see any puffs but I dont know if I just overlooked something:laugh2:Thanks again!
  4. I have a great recipie for body shimmer powder, but I have looked everywhere for a container & can't find any other than the "shaker" type containers, and I was really looking for something more like a cardboard container with a puff. Anyone have any ideas? Also, I was wondering...could you flavor a product like a body spray or body powder with a sweetend flavor oil? Thanks everyone!
  5. AWWWW She is SOO cute! The apron is very nice too, looks really profesional
  6. I'm have a tough time with this. There are soo many scents I love for my bath & body products, but I'm wondering how I should do this...I will be selling them on the internet (it'll be a long time before that happens though:wink2:)...should I have a drop down list of all my scents (probably about 50+) or should I narrow it down to a couple and have a seperate "collection" for each scent? As in a different color label for each scent (think Bath & Body works original scents...how they have like 5-10 and a bit different packaging for each scent). Then again, I really like pink and kind of wanted to use that color for all my packaging. :undecided And if I did offer only a couple scents, how can I compete with all the other etailers that have a TON of scents. I'm just a little confused right now and would love *any* suggestions or advice anyone would have. Thanks so much!
  7. Awww those are soo cute! (also, Michi, cute soaps!!)
  8. Thanks you two! I am so excited about this lol. I hope to learn a lot from this board, it seems like everyone here is so creative I have always wanted to do something like this as a hobby & if I can make money from it too, well then hey! Even better! Just wondering, does anyone here use a candle or bath&body buisness as their main source of income? It seems like something that most people would do as a hobby or for a little extra, but I was wondering if it is possible to become succesful enough over the years to acually make a living. I just think it would be really cool to talk to someone that has actually done that &ps, AJ you're website is so cute!
  9. Hi everyone! I'm new here and new to the bath and body scene. I have been researching this on the internet for a couple months now and decided it's something I really want to do. I am just crazy about everything bath & body! I've ordered a few items & made some test products and they turned out even better than I could have imagined I have so much planned out (products, labels, insurance, web design, advertising etc) but I am wondering what kind of business to expect. Now, obviously I know no one can predict sales lol, but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experience as a new shop. I was wanting to primarily sell bath & body products & I have researched everything so much but I am totally clueless as to how much buisness something like this can get. I am planning on having a fairly professional (imho) look and advertise quite a bit - I'm scared that I'm going to not order enough supplies and end up with a bunch of orders waiting forever, or I'm going to end up with hardly any orders and a bunch of gallons of lotion sitting around Please forgive me if this is an inappropriate question to ask. I don't mean to ask anyone what kind of money they are making or anything, but it would just be so helpful if I had some sort of vague idea of what to expect when first opening:) Thank you very much!
