  2. Shot! I was hoping to see pictures of your attire. :yay: Sounds like you had an unbelievably long but profitable day. And I think Sherie found herself a good one in Beary. Think of the exciting times they will have.

  3. I hope to be able to hear about the kids that Sherie and Beary may have down the road. It was such a beatiful site to see them walk paw and paw into the sunset.....sniff sniff tear tear....Now I wonder if Deputy Love and Miss Autumn will sneak off too....this could start a trend. :)

I am glad Mystical Angel loved the Niagara Falls guy look. Could you imagine if I had gone as the Niagara Falls guy with a ....nevermind.....I would have had to have a wooden barrel to cover. :P:yay::drool:

  4. Thank-you sugar....

When I called and said "Do you remember the part in Jerry Maguire where Tom Curise said to Renee Zellwager...our little company just had a very big night"...well out little company had a very successful day.

There was 2 other vendors that had candles. The first lady had some sort of pillars that looked like they had pictures or something on them...I really couldn't get a good look without being obvious. She packed up and was gone around 4 PM. At that time our little company was kicking it :tiptoe: in to 3rd gear so to speak. Did a 4th of our sales after that time frame.

The other vendor had 2 booth spaces and they sold gel candles and a few other items. They stayed to the end so I assume they did OK too.

The day started off being the first to arrive at the craft site at 4:45 AM. The organizer was already there which was really nice. As soon as the street sweeper cleaned the street I was to start setting up. That happened rather quickly. The craft organization also had the local high school jr class helping crafters to unload and set up. Now that was very nice on their part and it made a big difference getting the tent set up in timely manner. As I was un loading I visited with the craft organizer about the 70 degree weather we were suppose to have. She said this "If we have that weather there may be in the neighborhood of 50,000 to 60,000 people here today."

OH.....MY......GOD.....was my first thought. I hope I brought enough product since I assumed there was gonna be around 20,000 to 25,000. Fortunately I did bring quite a bit. I left the kitchen sink at home...LOL.

Finally got everything set up and organized around 8 AM or so. The vendors on either side of me stopped by and we visited. Real nice folks. One did children's clothing and the other did jewelry.

Business was steady in the morning till the parade started. The parade lasted apprx 1hr and 45 minutes. During that time frame I got to use the restroom and was able to eat. Parade ended and then the crowd began to come thru the craft area. Once again I heard it said just outside the tent and this occurred all day. "Man what is thatgreat smell" or "Your candles smell awesome". This was my response to those positive comments. "Come on in... sniffing is free here... but of course you might find something you. like" :)

Also had a gal representing a business mall stop by and asked if we might be interested in setting up a booth for a 2 day show in a mall. She explained that they don't have very many candle folks very often and thought we might be a great addition. We shall see how that plays out.

After getting up at 1:55 AM and getting home around 10PM the idea of mattress testing was just to good to turn down. So I tested the mattress to see if there was rest in there. :) :)

  5. updated information....they have separated the 3 candle booths and now we have some breathing room so to speak... I am getting ready for the long journy in about 5 hr....which is roughly 2 AM ish to leave and to be at the craft site at around 5:30 AM. It is a rough life but you got do what you got to do. Still can't decide if the tuxedo will be the thing or not. I know just like a.........:D .

Hope everybody has a profitable day. Talk in about 24 hrs with the results.

Yes...scented is gonna miss this one.

  6. Yes scented is right on this. I love the selling part. My belief is I have the customers candles and they have my money. Finding a happy medium for both sides can be quite exciting. Sometimes I win and sometimes I don't. My goal is to get them in the tent and to look and sniff and maybe ask questions. If I can do that I have a better than 50/50 chance of helping them go home with a very nice looking and definitely an awesome smelling product. I love putting smiles on happy customer faces. You all hurry back now you hear.

One thing I learned a long time a go is to affirm the positive things about your product and getting the customer excited by creating a sense of urgency. Have I got a deal for you. 10% of something is far better than 100% of nothing. As far as our prices are concerned we have always been in the ball park competitive wise.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will let you know how it all turns out and if I decide to wear that bow tie with a nevermind. :laugh2:

  7. I love you alls imagination. Somehow I think that would scare the customers off with just a bow tie and a .......nevermind...I am not gonna ask what a nevermind is. The mental pic would to be much of a shock.

    Me against 2 women...somehow I don't think that is a fair match. They don't stand a chance :D

  8. Well this could be very interesting. Our next show is a 1 day event the Saturday before Halloween that has apprx 25,000 + attending. Looking at the web site of the event I happened to come across the list of vendors. The list has all of the vendor locations and guess what!!! They have 3 candle booths side by side out of 24 vendors.

I am going to have to compete with 2 ladies. :laugh2:

Ladies any suggestions on how I can beat them at their own game??? I was thinking of dressing up for halloween. Maybe as a tuxedo man. Any suggestions. I know scented will see this and probably laugh.

  9. Well the weekend is over and time to ponder and reflect. Scented and myself just completed our first major 2 day outdoor show. There was over 30,000 people at this show. We did 6x our booth fee and get this....the show organization committee said we were already accepted to participate again next year. WOO HOO!!!!!!! :yay: :yay:

My god I never seen so many people in the booth. At one time I think I had 15 people in our 10 x 10 tent on Saturday. They came to buy and that they did. We had several customers from recently past shows come up and say they just loved the candles and our scented roommates. We had one particular candle that sold very well and I know my sister will probably be excited when she hears about it. LOL...We wouldn't have made it if it hadn't been for her ordering quite a few candles in that scent.

I know my whole body aches and I can't begin to tell how scented feels but it is all good. Just one of many reasons why I love that woman. :)

  10. Thanks for the suggestions...We are putting a french scent to use.

Pierre the painter found a new home yesterday. He was scented with a very nice french scent. I had no sooner got him out with the rest of the family and a very nice older lady with her daughter came along and simply adored him. I will miss Pierre, however, I think his cousin Pepe, the lounge singer, may be coming for a visit LOL

Scented may have a picture of Pierre.

  11. Sara -- they're both strong, but BCN's is a strong cinnamon with not buttery notes, which Peak has. In addition, I look at the harvest as a stronger version of Home Sweet Home more than anything. I wouldn't really say they are that similar. (BTW this is Scented lol!)

  12. LOL Carmen!! You've got a great hubby :) Good thing Rockin' is organized or I probably would have us signed up for three on the same day lol!

2 in 1 day...now I call that smart thinking. What a way to maximize your selling opportunities. Success is in the eye of the beholder and your hubby....good for him for stepping up to the plate... Let us know how it all turns out and who has the best success.

  13. Well OK, if ya need the excuse lol, I had packages shipped to you and will be there in a week to get them. If I don't show up, consider them yours lol! Course he may not find that funny ;) I don't think Rob would either, but I've been very, very, very good about not buying stuff and Rob wants to know why we're out lol!

Whoa there woman....I know why we are out. Everybody loves our candles due to the irresistable aroma.

  14. Yeah...I had my girl with me today. Yes maam and No maam... boy has she got me trained. If you believe that.. you will believe anything and everything. :wink2:

Saturday was a very hot and humid day. 3 hours of sleep and lack of nutrients did me in...I broke every cardinal rule that I swore I would not break. I wish I could hired the guys and gals that helped me load my vehicle. Was loaded and out of there in fifteen minutes after the 1 hr delay of game on tearing down.

Today was quite nice having the tent on the south side of the street in the shade. Temp got close to 92 but since we were in the shade it felt closer to 82.

Oh yeah while I am thinking about this...It was quite interesting when we found out that the 2 booths on our right were also candle booths. Go figure... we had 3 candle booths in a row and another around the corner. Great planning on the organizational skills of the group that put this on.

I just love it when people come up to booth and say they can smell the candles a half a city block away. I just say Thank-you and tell them to come on in cause they might find something that they like.

Thanks for the TLC ladies. I do love everybody's ideas, however, I prefer to have Miss Julie be my cabana girl. :rolleyes2

  15. Oh you all are sweet! He'll get some TLC soon. He was in much better form for today's show (actually loaded a cooler with drinks <not spiked lol>) and he was snacking throughout the day, mostly on homemade ice cream lol! Man I love the new tent! We've got more space (space I gotta figure out how to fill!)

Good to know that Candle Man (now how to mask something like that so he'd drink it ;) )

As for neck collars, those would be a lifesaver I'm sure! I don't sew, but have been keeping an eye out for them :)

  16. The show that rejected me is in Ottawa Kansas...small small town.

We had a successful show there in the past..but now we arent good enough..or was that too good:laugh2:

Good luck in Leavenworth..is that the weekend of Sept 24th? We will be in Topeka and get to meet Becky of BizzyBs :)

We will be in Concordia that weekend.

  17. My guess is that someone on the jury sold soaps or container candles..who knows:confused:

I am looking forward to Manhattan as we have never been there before.

I am sure we will meet up again.

Scented is right...We debated quite a while before we decided on the Big O and not the little Apple. Heard from the Ft L crowd. We are in.:cheesy2: ..and even got the booth space we requested. Get this...they made their decision over a month ago and are just now informing the crafters.

Any way I hope you have good show that week end.

  18. We've got a real one now too. Ours lasted about oh four shows lol. Once you get the gist of it though, it gets easy to put up. We're looking forward to trying out our new EZUp since the storm at our last show pretty much killed the imposter lol.

Scented hit it right on the nose. Between holding up the roof of the tent and running around in circles to make sure that the roof didn't collapse. The real McCoy is about to make it's debut this week end. Woo Hoo.
