  1. I was wondering if Ecowax could be used in place of beeswax when making Cold process soaps? I have used it in Melt and Pour to firm up the soap. Since Ecowax is a natural soy product, and has the consistency of beeswax pellets, I was curious to know if anyone has tried this. Thanks Jules
  2. Okay, I'm not sure why this is happening, but I can't get into the CO-OP section... so I'm going to put my two cents in Here - on my idea - and hopefully I won't be chastised... I am not that computer savvy (plus I'm feeling old and tired at the moment...haha) :tiptoe: IF I'm on the wrong section/board for asking - which I hope I'm not - I would like to say that I'm interested in ordering bulk supplies for making CP....and would like to know if anyone would like to go "halvies"? If anyone is interested (and you live in the SPRING TX area) - please contact me personally... I'm sure everyone knows that the bigger the order, the bigger the price break - especially with shipping being so high. I wouldn't mind working with a few folks on this - I don't think I can handle a whole slew of folks doing this - but perhaps someone in my area might be interested in going in on this with me, or has already started this idea, and would invite me In? Look forward to hearing from anyone. Jules
  3. found another one, though it's out of state - prices are decent... http://www.chemistrystore.com/Sodium_Hydroxide.htm http://www.soaperschoice.com/ Columbus Foods now that's what I'm talking about...
  4. Maybe I'm on the wrong message board - should have been in the business section?...and if I am, I apologize for that. Seems nobody was replying...must be top secret stuff, right? Thank you for taking the time to drop me those websites. It isn't always easy doing a search for companies with Search Engines - so you have saved me some headaches... Actually, being online for hours doing research is a bit of a luxury, isn't it. I for one don't have that kind of time, and I know you don't either. THAT is why I'm grateful for the help. I know when I was in the candle making side of things, I made sure to help those who needed it...even if it meant they could steal my own ideas. Trust me, I've been on both sides of the fence. I'm sure that I will PASS THIS HELP FORWARD when the times comes. Jules
  5. Hi again, I've recently joined and am really starting out - don't exactly have much in the way of supplies - so between researching and finding places to order some - I am needing Help! Why do you go to get oils/butters/sod.hyd....locally? Any help would be appreciated. :undecided I'm not trying to be competitive, I'm to new to even consider going into business. But for starters, I am trying to save some money so I don't have to mail order stuff - shipping is high...and my quantities are to small to make a dent in saving shipping fees. ALSO - would love to know any other CP soapmakers who live in the Texas area. Just what this area needs is another soapmaker, right? Just kidding...I just have always wanted to try this, and take this 'learned' Craft with me, when I finally move back to Pennsylvania. I'm in the learning stages - and figure it will take me a year to perfect. This way I'm not going crazy trying to find something to do... My space is limited - but I will invest in buying Bulk - slowly. Thanks to anyone who's listening. Jules:tiptoe:
  6. Hi - I'm totally new to the functions of having an online business - and for starters...Where does one begin? 1. Do you know of website companies I could approach to help design it? 2. Normal cost to get a website? 3. How do you get search engines to catch your URL address? Heck, I'm more of an artist than a technical person...so this really is an emotional stretch for me to dally with. Plus, who has the time! haha:undecided I don't want to get involved with storefronts - what I'm looking to have is an actual 'address' (I've tried the HOMESTEAD route, and it's tedious and doesn't get me anywhere) This is going to be an eventual investment for me,so any advice,or ideas you can direct my way would be more than appreciated.... You would probably save me more grey hairs than I already have. Danke' Juliana cleo_associates@yahoo.com
  7. I hope I am not repeating anyone else's comments - but if I am, I apologize. so - above all else - smile, be friendly and as much as it may kill ya at times - do not turn your back on your audience (yep, the crowd is your Audience) You are on display too! If you are the shy type - bring an outgoing friend with you for assistance. Someone to make you laugh, help you keep an eye on products, and an eye on you (and vice versa) 1. Don't talk people ears off (or tell them your life story) 2. Ask questions and be interested in them. 3. Create a traffic flow with your booth - if possible. You want folks to come in and look - so I have made it so that folks will come IN to the booth area (if this is possible) Finally - have a good time. Thank you for listening Jules
  8. Hi - I'm new at making cold process - and have been setting up my 'workshop' to begin soapmaking. Any last minute things I should know? I have read several books on the steps, and at the moment, awaiting to get my order from Snowdrift Farms. I would like to purchase Lye closer to home - anyone know of places that I can get this stuff closer to home? I am just doing this to keep my head busy until I figure out what I want to do in life...haha....and until I get a permanent home. Maybe in a year I will know for sure where my life will take me. My long term goal is to have a small business - but for now - this is about as far as I can take it. I used to have a small candle business for local sales only - and that was fun. And that is about how I want to keep it - FUN!!! Please say hello and let me know your story and how you got started. :highfive: thanks Jules cleo_associates@yahoo.com
