  1. Would either of these 2 ingredients cause a base to have a bad smell? Steryl Alcohol or BHT ?

JS & New Directions Aromatics both carry a body butter base. The ingredients are exactly the same & listed in the same order, except for those 2 ingredients.

    Here is JS:

    Ingredients:

    • Purified Water

    • Sweet Almond Oil

    • Sunflower Seed Oil

    • Coconut Oil

    • Emulsifying Wax

    • Safflower Seed Oil

    • Grapeseed Oil

    • Beeswax

    • Glycerine (By Product of Soap Manufacturing)

    • Petrolatum

    • Cetyl Alcohol

    • Jojoba Oil

    • Methyl Paraben (Preservative)

    • Propyl Paraben (Preservative)

    • Cocoa Butter

    • Shea Butter

    Here is New Directions:

    INCI Ingredients:

    Purified Water

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond Oil)

    Helianthus Annus (Sunflower Seed Oil)

    Coconut Oil

    Emulsifying Wax

    Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower Seed Oil)

    Grapeseed Oil

    Beeswax

    Steryl Alcohol

Glycerine (By Product of Soap Manufacturing)

    Petrolatum

    Cetyl Alcohol

    Jojoba Oil

    Methyl Paraben (Preservative)

    Propyl Paraben (Preservative)

    Cocoa Butter

    Shea Butter

    BHT

NDA has some customer reviews & they are about 95% favorable, except for one or two people who claim that the base had a base "smell" that was hard to cover up without adding alot of FO to it. Would just those 2 ingredients(Steryl Alcohol or BHT) cause that? NDA would be cheaper for me, but I don't want a hard base to cover up.

  2. I've read that these 2 suppliers have the same or similar body butter base. I looked on the sites & the ingredients seem the same. I was thinking of trying one of them, until I read the reviews. On JS, they seem to love this stuff. On NewDirections, they love the consistency, but can't get past the "smell" of the base, even after scenting it. I currently use WSP's Body Butter base & although I love it, it too is hard to cover the smell of the base & therefore I cannot offer it in every scent. The lighter scents just don't cut it. I don't want to have the same situation with either of these 2 places. Does anyone here have any feedback on either of these 2 butters from these 2 suppliers? Thanks all:D

  3. I need help, once again, making body sprays with Cyclomethicone & FCO. I've taken a few months off from the B&B thing, for personal/family reasons. But, I'm starting again & need help, already!! I'm making one ounce sized Cyclo sprays. Same problem, as way back when: I have no problem making large sizes, but have someone who wants EIGHT one-ounce body sprays in EIGHT different scents.(& some are blends!). Since it's 8 different sprays, I'm not making a larger batch & pouring them into smaller bottles. I'm only making one ounce at a time. Can anyone help me out? How much Cyclo? How much FCO? How much FO(can be in ounces, "drops")Thank you very much!!!

  4. for premade bases, you can browse these sites & start ordering sample sizes of them & see what you like. I'm only listing ones that I know I've either tried myself, or know others who have, & are happy with. There ARE more out there that people love, but I'm thinking off the top of my head here:

www.essentialwholesale.com (have alot of all natural bases)

www.soapandthings.com (it's Jody's & they have many many bases that the other places have.......kind of like one-stop shopping)

www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com (their Goats Milk lotion is great)

    www.essentialsbycatalina.com (nice body whip)

www.candlesupply.com (bitter creek north) (people love their stuff)

    www.millcreek.com (soy)

  5. WSP's Hot Fudge Brownie in a Butter is great.

the dupe of Aquolina's Chocolovers seems to be a big hit in body sprays.

NaturesGarden's Chocolate Raspberry Cream Roll is great in a shower gel & hair conditioner, believe it or not! (and I like it in a lotion too)

  6. I have a whole buncha questions regarding using alcohol to make a body spray. Thanks for any help!

Can anyone please suggest a place to buy alcohol to make perfumes?

What type would I use, that does not need a special license to sell?

Do you find that using alcohol in a spray makes the scent last longer?

Thanks so much for your help!
