Okay. Good to know!
Thanks!

Any one know when Peak's webstore will be back up?

Ok, I recently smelled the patchouli honey oil from elements (formerly flickers oil) and kept thinking to myself that I have smelled this before...it was so familiar. Then it finally came to me...Angel-type FO from BCN...anyone else think this oils smells like the Angel perfume dupe fragrance oil? Don't know if they are the exact same but boy they sure seem similar!
Though not exactly the same, I too do find them to have very similar fragrance notes.

I bought my warmers from candlewarmers.com and
Can I ask what's the wattage on these warmers?

Mixing red 33 with red 40 both fd&c colorants will give you a truer red.
Red 33 is a raspberry colored (blue red) and red 40 is orange red in soap
the combination give a red that's down the middle and more true imo.

The first batch I used what little mineral oil was left in a brush which was hardly none. I'm getting ready to unmold the second here shortly and used nothing. I will post as soon as I unmold it and let you know.
I was just curious if you gel your soaps? I don't gel and ungelled soaps
are always harder to unmold than gelled.

Wasn't it somewhere on these forums that I read that a
wax can be manufactured from different plants around the country and that yes the wax can vary some from one plant to the next but still
be within company specs for that particular wax?
It was suggested to buy your wax from the same supplier (assuming your supplier buys it from the same manufacturer consistently) and this helps to maintain consistency for the candle maker. I swear I read that here.
But maybe it was elsewhere.

I've been confused in my researching of wicks, specifically the cd and cdn wicks.
Are these the same wick?

Wow, my tarts don't last several days. Using a 24watt burner with a 1oz tart mine typically scent strongly for around 10 hrs. Sometimes a little longer but then they start fading. I use Ky's parasoy tart blend and scent at about 1oz/lb. Most of the fragrances come from companies that specialize in soap fos not candle fos. Maybe's that's the difference.
-
I don't make candles, but when I test tarts I allow them "burn" until
the fragrance has faded, that way I can makes sure my fos don't have some
top notes that burn off before the rest of the notes are gone. I had a lavender blend that was initially a very beautiful fragrance but stunk after a few hours melt time due to the fact that some tops burned off leaving an
unpleasant aroma. Now this same fo would probably be fine in candles since the fo is constantly being consumed by the flame and fresh fo is taking it's place in the melt pool as new wax melts and the candle burns down.
-
Well I might not hold my breath either, but I will be keeping my fingers crossed.
And yes, realistically it would take time before we would see any price decreases.

I don't post much here, but thought I'd mention some good news.
My oil guy (I primarily make soap) said that he saw that soybean prices are
coming down. Let's hope that true and that it will translate into lower
soy wax at some point soon.

Scent Works has a Lavender fo that similar to yardley's
It's called English Lavender.

I'm pretty sure she's talking about her tarts after they've been in the tart melter!!
Yep! This what I mean.
-
No, I mean the melted wax. Intially the melted wax in the bowl is clear liquid, but after my wax has been on the burner for several hours, okay like maybe after all day, I will get a tiny little bit of brown residue in the melted wax. It just floats around in the wax. Maybe I'm letting it set on the burner too long. I assumed it was natural impurities in the soy. I don't use color in the wax, just fo.
-
I've been using this blend for tarts for the past year and have always noticed a little bit of brownish residue in the melted wax, and specifically after it's been on the warmer for several hours. It matters not the fo I use. I've not noticed this with a paraffin wax I've used. Is this common with soy blend tarts?

Fragrance oils can discolor, but usually it's more toward a brownish tan
color. I know making cphp (hot processed) soap in aluminum pan will can cause the soap to discolor to a greyish color. Also some purples like
purple oxide can be grey in color is not enough is added (my experience.)
And the color of the soaping oils add there own influence on the finished
product.

I have certainally found that certain fos can affect lather, either for the
better or worse.

All soap I make is made with goat's milk. We have goats:D
I've used many different oils, butters, fats. I just replace whatever
recipe I'm using with goat's milk instead of water. It's not necessary
to use specific oil/fats for goats milk soap.

Anyone know where I can purchase the lighted candle warmers like the
one in the following link; http://www.candlewarmers.com/Products.aspx?cat=sig
I can find suppliers on the east coast, but I was hoping for some one
out west.
Thanks,

I've never smelled the real deal, but my daughter says it's a good dupe.
Peaks version that is.
