  1. I just saw Donita's website...wow her creations are amamzing...being new to candle making I can only dream of what it would take to make candles as beautiful as her. We pay for advice from our Doctor, Attorney, Realtor because they know something we do not, there is value in their advice adn services. I do not see anything different with this. Donitas knowlege and talent are valuable to those of us who want to learn from it so there is no reason why she should not be compensated for her skills. JMO :wink2:

  2. I have to agree with Jan and Nancyjo...signing a 3 year lease without any back out clause written into the contract could be an issue for you down the road. I have seen quite a few folks go into business without the proper funding only to find themselves stressed and consumed with worry on how to pay the rent...not worth it in my opinion. With location being such a vital part of the success of your business it might be best to wait until you have enough money in reserves to get you through a year so that you have some peace of mind. From reading these post it sounds like there could be many other alternatives to build your business so that when you are ready you can really kick butt!!!!

  3. Pamperme,

Are you working with a commercial agent on this? If so do they have any statistics about traffic in the better location? What was the prior business that was there and did they do. Any traffic info that maybe you could compare to the other location. If the traffic flow is not off by that much it may not be a big deal..but you may also want to consider Parking, accessability, traffic patterns, does the good location die on the weekends and busy during the week? Can you negociate the lease at the better location? HTH

  4. Hi Pamperme,

I'm a Real Estate agent full time and I do commercial and residential, all I can say is...

    "LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION"

...a good location can make or break a new biz....is it possible to hold off until you raise more funds to get the better location, if it is not available when you are ready are there any similar locations in that area that may work just as well?

    :undecided

  5. How are: Lavender Apples & Oak? Flannel Sheets? & Twigs & Berries? Can you describe how they smell? (OOB is fine, if you haven't used them yet). I wanted to order those, but didn't.

    So far oob:

Lavender Apples and Oak...my first smell is Lavender then I can definitly smell the apple but it is not a strong apple I like the combination seems to tone both smells down...I really don't smell any oak type of scent, maybe when it burns.

Flannel Sheets...first smell is a Downey type smell but not too strong with maybe a little bit of a musky undertone!

Twigs & Berries: first smell a foresty berry smell, very masculine but not too strong.

So far my first impressions of these scents...I will let you know how they burn. HTH

  6. Thanks Candle Man....geez just when I thought I might be getting the hang of the candle thing, now I have to figure out the whole photography thing and I still have not figured out how to get a thumbnail on this site. I'm going to check that link out as I'm sure a great photo makes all the difference in the work when you are selling online or in print!
