  1. I've had the same problem.

    Here is what I think:

#1 The silicon spray (mold release) is seeping and gathering in the corners. The bubbles come from too much silicon spray in that tiny crevice. It is almost impossible to get the mold clean right there on the seam. I had to use a bamboo skewer topped with some cotton and gently scrape it right along the seam while using a heat gun. It's hard with those molds, the mold release gets in there and wont come out.

    or #2

Not enough mold release making the wax get stuck in the seam.

I think it is more likely to be #1.

What helped me is using some mold release additive into the wax.

Also what kind of wax are you using? Maybe adding some Microwax would help as well.

    Good luck

  2. Hihi

Since I mainly do tumblers, I know your grief!

Are these colored candles? Are you adding BW or frostop or sterin?

If I add color, it slows the burn. Also the RRD 50's end up tunneling down, while the 47's go wide. I couldn't get RRD's to work at all in the colored tumblers. I used the hemps.

Try the smaller hemp. Trust me, the slower burn will burn out while the larger hemps burn down quicker. I was using the 8008 size and it was doing well with the lighter oils. I have a 3 inch tumbler straight side heavy bottom burning right now with the large hemp and it is clean burning perfectly. But it is a colorless candle. For some reason (and I use liquid dye) it slows the burn.

Try one without any color. If I make a colorless candle with the RRD 47 it usually gets to the edge using 135, so it should with the para blend. Just don't add any additives. The candles you saw pix of were all RRD 47's but the diameter is just under 3'', and there is very little dye in it.

    Good luck!

  3. I dunno, the woman sounds a bit shady to me...capitalizing MILLIONS with embossed candles. She'd need to be running a factory. Most times secrets come down to something incredibly simple. I doubt she's a rocket scientist with the formula for uranium enrichment...but she guards her "secret" as if she were!

My sister dabbles in ancient pagan stuff. She makes candles that look just like the ones you posted but with pagan symbolic stamps (celtic swirls and very cool designs). I will try to get a pic of one when I return to the USA, but she told me they are pretty common in her circles. I knew right away when I saw your post with the star as it reminded me of a candle my sister has in her bedroom (that she made). They are called Candle Seals and have been used through history, so not a new thing. My sister said you can get custom designs as one of her friends got one for his wedding ritual. Cool stuff. Check out this site about them:

:tiptoe: Soooo possibly these are her secret:

    Good luck! Hope I've helped.

PS if she's making millions, a few silicome molds wouldn't break her. And why not just start off with one or two...etc. Sound like she is trying to talk you out of figuring it out...Something is stinky poo poo about this secret business

  4. I use these glasses, but I get them in England.

I looked all over the USA over xmas break (I'm in universiy in the UK) and could not find them.

I even have cool dust covers for them that do not fit any of the fillmore glasses in the USA. Bummer :(

Also I but them at 4 for £.79 which is an amazing price.

Good for UK people, not so good for USA people. :(

  5. Just mix equal parts of bleach and vinegar (outside!) and soak the tin in it.

If you want to speed up the process, add a small piece of already rusted tin to the mix.

    Hope that helps!

It's not really a secret method. I learned it in high school chemistry class.

As for sharp points, you can use one of the new can openers that leaves safe edges. I forget what they are called.

  6. There's an old school rap song:

    I'm a Ho

    You know I'm a Ho

    How do you know

    Cuz I told you so!

    LOL

    I'm such a fragrance Junkie. :D

Ok now I'll try my own rap:

I grab da bottle like I'm fiendin for crack

    Sniffidy sniff

    I can't send it back!

    LOL :grin2:

  7. I immediately thought of a tri colored:

1 layer a redish violet - mix magenta, red, and a smidge of purple. Think raspberry smoothie color.

2 layer - peach - I mix magenta and yellow and get a true peach color.

3rd layer - uncolored. The oil should make it a nice ivory tint.

Maybe put the white in the middle?

    It would look amazing. :)

If you do it, post pics!

  9. I have the most amazing dupe of Blue I bought from sweetcakes. SweetCakes is more $$ but they have a few must have scents that are fab. Their orange blossom is the only one that actually smells like real orange blossome - trust me I live in FL and smell the real stuff every year. :)

The prices are very high so I make a luxury line which use higher $$ oils. People will pay for quality, if it really is quality. :)
