  1. UPDATE ON MORE TESTING

OK so here are tests I did in Soy with a 2-3 week cure (I used CB-135)

Amber Romance - Great throw - nice scent.

Sugar Cookies - Poor throw :(

Andes Mint - FAB throw - lasted a long time. Delish.

    Christmas Pear - Strong Throw

Wedding Cake - Weak in soy - too bad as it was great OOB

Tootsie Roll - Very Strong - YUMMY!

I'll be testing more and will keep you updated. I poured the banana but I need to try it in another wax as the 135 did not throw it well.

  2. So the musk has gone to a new home Yay! :yay:

And I think Bert's site has the updated description so all of us "white perfume muskies" do not get shocked like I did. :rolleyes2 LOL

    Ok more reviews:

    Lemon Biscotti in candles:

Amazing throw! I am testing my small italian wine glasses that I imported from Italy and they are only 6oz volume and appx 2.7 diameter. I need strong throwing oils for these little critters and this one is it! I've been burning it for 4 days (you know how sometimes the first burn is great but then oil burns off and it gets poor as the candle burns down?) Everytime I light this my little puny candle fills my 800 sq foot room! It's FAB.

I've tested j223, comfort blend, palm wax (Great in palm!!), 135 after just 6 days cure works awesome! however GL 70/30 is not throwing well :( . I think I will give up on this wax. :(

    Blackberry:

Awesome! Sour sour tart lovely yum! Very strong. Cold throw is wonderful. Hot throw equally great in J223 and palm. This is the perfect blackberry - I plan to do some blenders with it.

    Black Cherry:

I need to test burn it but in wax has a fab cold throw and does not burn out your nasal passages like other cherry scents. Would be wonderful to blend with chocolate.

    Fig and Mellon:

This scent in my little candles is strong! Did you all smell it yesterday? I swear they could smell this in China.

    Sugar cookies isn't throwing :(

    Christmas Pear -

Throws excellent in Comfort Blend and 135 - GL 70/30 again - poor throw. GL's blend looks great in the glass, the adhesion is wonderful - but what's looks if it will not throw other than the GL oils?

OK those are the one's I've test burned. I'll update as I do more tests. :)

  3. I'm test burning it right now in J223 and not much throw with this one.

It's a wonderful match to the BBW one and smells great OOB. But I think this one will go into B&B unless the comfort blend I plan to test tomorrow does better.

Not sure if anyone else got a good throw with this one. I'd like to know.

    :)

  4. SO I made a bunch of testers this week and have a few results to post:

Right now the knock me down winer is Fig and Mellon! It is so yummy! I poured it in J223, Comfort Blend, and 6006. All have knock you down cold throw. My kids said this scent smells like starburst or tropical fruit roll ups. Its very sweet (which I love). I think mixing it with some Warm Vanilla Sugar would be awesome.

The Lemon Biscotti pie - from reviews I was expecting the same intense cold throw as the melon. It wasn't as strong as the melon, but still very good. I like the custardy bakery blend in this scent. It's a very nice scent so I hope it will burn well for me. :)

    I poured it in:

    CB135

Glass Glow Palm (has best Cold Throw! but I need to test burn it)

    J223

    Comfort Blend

    6006

    GL 70/30

    Tarts

The soy ones still have to cure but I plan to burn the J223 and comfort blend tomorrow. I'll let you know how it acts. :)

I also poured Christmas Pear, Sugar Cookies, and Wedding Cake. The pear smells lovely in wax - very nice blend. The sugar cookies and wedding cake have a weak-ish cold throw. But for me a strong throw is one I can smell without having to put my nose to wax (the melon is like that).

Now I loved the Warm Vanilla Sugar OOB. It was very true to the BBW scent that I have here. I poured it in J223 and in Comfort blend two days ago. I am burning the j223 one right now and it's been burning for an hour and not much of a throw on it. :( It has great melt pool and wick is fine, but it's pretty weak throwing. I will try the comfort blend one either later tonight of tomorrow and I hope it will perform better in that wax. I also have it in soy but that needs to cure first. Bummer for this. Looks like it will go into B&B - it's such a nice scent but TSW White Vanilla Sugar throws sooooo much stronger. I just hate paying SW prices for it.

Vanilla Latte is FAB. Great cold throw. WIll test burn soon.

So it appears that the fruits are strong, but the cakes and vanillas are weaker. I have yet to find a white cake that throws very very strong. ICS was the best I could get - and sugar cookie is another tough one. It's still to early to judge with these, but I will give you all updates as they are test burned.

    :)

Bert's right -- blend that musk with some florals...Jasmine, musk & vanilla is a nice blend. Sandalwood, amber & musk is another nice blend if you're into earthy scent.

Pam - I have no idea how this musk would work! It's not like any musk I've ever bought from TSW, SC, OT or other suppliers. It's like animal stinky yuck. I don't want to offend Bert but I have to be honest - the description only said:

"A traditional musk scent, no other perfume type scents mingled in."

I've bought many musk scents, as I love a clean musk to cut the sweetness of some fragrances, but this musk is really strong and smells like a ferret! Really. I think people should know and if that is what they are looking for - that's great. I wanted more of a "WHite MUsk" kind of scent to blend with berry and vanillas etc. This one - not for me.

I love the others. And seeing how they perform when I burn the candles will be great. I will not stop buying from Bert - but we have to review the good and the bad. The fig and Mellon will be a keeper if it burns well. And I'm off to pour the Cedar which smells awesome OOB.

Anyone want my 16oz Musk bottle? Free with shipping? PM me.

    edt for type-os

  5. They look great! Yep, keep us posted about that vanilla stabilizer :D

I haven't had a patchouli go brown on me, but wondering if that stabilizer made the colorant a little unstable. However you got purple and some purples just go gray.

The stabalizer is odd at times. I've tested it in a few batches. In some colors (peacock brands) the color just disappeared completely during gel. However recently I've done a batch with Celestial and I thought the blue was going to vanish - it totally disappeared during gel, but like magic - came back by the end of gel. It's odd stuff!

    :)

  6. So MUSK:

Ermmm Well it's not the yummy "Original Musk" I was expecting (like the Kheils one).

And nothing like a delish Egyptian musk...

    It's ermmm

Well has anyone ever owned a ferret??

    Yup. :sad2:

    Oh well.

Anyone want 16oz of Ode du Ferrets?

    The others smell great.

The Redwood is FAb, and the Pear is going in wax tonight.

What do I do with the Musk?

Well one miss (a 1lb miss) is OK right.

God I wish it was like a Kheils dupe - that musk scent is amazing.

  7. Dang it, I just placed a big order on the 23rd and now she's having a free shipping sale:cry2: . That's just my luck. I guess I'll have to make another order.:o I guess I'll be able to try this tropical vanilla now, since I didn't order it on the last one.

    Me too!

I placed 2 orders in one day on the 24th (too ad some more goodies!) and paid shipping on both. Why do I always miss these things by one day!!

    man I have bad luck!

    :(

  8. Wow am I happy to have found this thread.

I just ordered like everything! :o

I will be testing them in J223, Ecosoya 135, comfort blend, glass glow palm and...

I will give my GL 70/30 one more chance. If the GL will not behave with any of the Berts, it's going to a new home. :)

So yes lots of waxes I plan to test with these oils. :D So I will give all of you updates on how it goes.

Is this a dream come true or what?? Wow!

    I'm so excited!:yay:

  9. I've been trying to soften my Glass Glow for one reason :

I'm trying to wick a 3" pepermint EO tumbler and it's burning soooo slow. I could put a citronella torch in there and only get a 1" melt pool.

So funny thing this palm wax.

Here's the results of my experiment:

    1. Added some pure soy - turned rock rock hard - I could have made a Cane candle with what came out!

    2. Added coconut oil - same! Pulled away from the glass and Now I know what I can use to Hurricaine proof my roof!

    3. So I figured the palm must be acting like "Palm Stearic" or other palm products that seem to harder soap and candles - so I just grabbed some pf my Palm Oil (not palm Kernel) and poured some of that. It helped a tad but then I lost a good amount of the crystals.

Have not tried palm kernel or crisco, but I think I've given up on the pepermint.

    *shrugs*

    Hope that helps.

  10. I used to do a blend at 50/50 of EcoSoya CB Advanced/IGI 4627. I had the same problem at 70/30 had to move it up to 50/50 to get it where I wanted with 10% FO.

I finally moved back to all paraffin as I couldn't get the soy to work well enough for me even mixed with paraffin.

Just a FYI - I went through a time where I was adding high % of FO, and the candles threw LESS. Dunno why, but they did. I use GL 70/30 in a 3.3 diameter jar.

  11. Thanks for the EO info. I've been looking into that a little bit as well as doing further research on the ingredients in this scent. Basically the actives are the chocolate ingredients that are proved to increase mood (seritonin etc). The perfume uses something chocolate (prolly cocoa extract) as it is listed as a basenote.

Ironically, I have been testing cocoa absolute oils in some candles and body lotions as part of the basic formula in a line of products I'm working on - based on the benefits of chocolate.

Anyway, it's all interesting. I agree that the bottle is a bit cheezy. I wonder if the actual scent is any good?

  12. That website is a PITA. Never even heard of this smiley stuff. But it must be good since it has Oprah's seal of approval.

What are you going to do, copy it?

    Nope. Not to copy.

I love the idea of fragrance that is proven to improve mood. Johnson's has a anti-stress formula lotion that is claiming similar benefits. It's along the aromatherapy lines, and I'd love to learn more about it and see if I can develop my own original product combining stress relieving aromatherapy and whatever else can help induce relaxation.

There are new micro-encapsulated fragrance ingredients that help prolong the staying power of fragance. It's new technology - was featured in Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine last month. Very cool stuff.

  13. Hi

I just bought my 2ND bottle of unscented Monoi thinking that the 1st bottle went rancid on me, but nope, it's the normal scent of deoderized Monoi Oil. This last one came from From Nature With Love and on its own it is SO sour! :(

Anyone know how to mask this? ANyone worked with it?

Anyone soaped it? If you've soaped deoderized monoi, do you have a recipe?

If everyone has no idea then:

    Anyone want this stinky stuff?!

    man. I'm bummed.

  14. I made these about a month or so ago and...well...mine float  I just assumed this is what it was supposed to do LOL. I drop it in the tub once it's full & it sinks to the bottom for a few seconds' date=' then pops back up, starts fizzing (a bit) and releases the cocoa butter & scent.

    So...um...should they [i']not float?

Maybe it was b/c I was storing mine in the fridge?

Were yours at room temp? Florida is V. hot at the moment and I did not want them to soften/melt.

Mine are small chocolate candy molds like chocolate covered cherries so I do not think it's the size that is weighing them down.

    thanks!

  15. OMG!!! This is so perfect! Wow.

You are amazingly talented. That is so lovely.

I think I'd use that on all of them, if it is OK with you.

Can I send you a thank you gift?

    Wow.

There, did a few drafts. Just rough ones though, I duplicated your template since I didn't have the original :D

Original & Edwardian script (I uhh.. forgot to center the words for the Ed script)

    perfumeCU.jpgperfumeCU-Ed.jpg

A few other quick drafts, you can see the different effects of different fonts here

    (Edwardian script is centered here)

From L-R: Gigi, Edwardian script, Freestyle, Curlz MT, Kuntsler script, Rage Italic

    PinkCocoa-Curlz-small.jpgPinkCocoa-Edwardian-small-L.jpgPinkCocoa-Freestyle-small.jpgPink-Cocoa-Gigi-small.jpgPinkCocoa-Kunstler-small.jpgPinkCocoa-Rage-It-small.jpg

I didn't change much from your original template, cos well, it looked perfectly fine to me other than the "Pink Sugar" font. There's "SAMPLE" watermarked on the fonts to protect your design. If you'd like any of them just let me know and I'll e-mail you the original. I'm also not quite sure what font you used for "CocoaPink" so I used Berling Antiqua :embarasse

By the way, are you sure the labels are 1 X 1.5? At a quick glance it doesn't seem to be 1.5" high to me... more like 1.25". The options I made are 1 X 1.5 and you can see a slight difference in proportion.

  16. Grumpy:

I tried a clear label but it was hard to see. I'm using a clear label on the back for the ingredients. A bigger font won't fit as that's as big as I could get it. Unless you mean to enlarge the scent name? I could probably do that - but I do like my white space. :embarasse The bottle is 1x1.5 so it's pretty small.

I love the sprayers too but they are sooooo pricey! I need to find them for less than TSW, if anyone sees them let me know!

It's a matte waterproof laser paper. I like the matte papers.

Would the flourish script look good with other scents? or only flourish the pink sugar?

  17. I think it looks fine actually, quite upscale.

If you'd like something more exciting, maybe add an abstract design of some sort to the label? A photo background may just be too busy for such a small area.

Alternatively, you could play around with the font. Right now your font is simple serifs and sans serifs. Maybe something curvy for "Pink Sugar"?

I could do a few drafts for you, but probably not at the moment... it's 6.49am, need to get some shuteye! :laugh2:

Sure that would be lovely! I like seeing what other people come up with :)

No rush too. Take you time!

    Thanks!

And thanks to everyone else. :grin2:
