My name is Audra and I have been making candles for about a year now and I am ready to take my candle business to the next level by making it a full time business. I know that joining a candle forum with so many individuals that has the same thing in common would be a great way to start.

  1. Thanks Sharyl55 and Donita for your replies, I will give it a shot. Also, Donita please give us an update on how the new wax works for you. Good Luck!
  2. Donita, you are a candle angel sent from heaven:cheesy2: . I did what you suggested and it worked. It still cracked just a little but I was satisfied because it's not that visible to the naked eye. I still think I got a bad batch of wax and I'm going to call Candletech to make them aware of this problem. Also, Donita.....How do you get your hurricanes so smooth after you takethem out the mold. I read that you use a heat gun but i tried it and it just not working for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...Would you explain in further detail. Sometimes I do wonder what made us go into candlemaking because I'm going crazy all the time:laugh2: God Bless
  3. Sharyl55...I don't put the mold in the fridge until it has completely cooled and then I'll put in the fridge for 5 minutes. The strange thing about the cracking is that it starts about 5-10 minutes after I pull it out the water bath. I watch it crack right before my eyes and do wait overnight to unmold it. Lin suggested the stearic. Can I use stearic with the 5055 wax? I tried it again and this time I left it in the water bath for about 20 minutes to make it thicker and the cracking was not as bad but it was noticeable. Could it be a bad batch of wax? Thank you all for your suggestions.
  4. I am trying to make the Hurricane candles with the photo embeds and I have made them before in the past with no problems. I spent the whole day yesterday making this hurricane candles and for some strange reason they are ALL cracking. I'm using the 5055 wax from candlewic with the mico 180 1/2 oz pp, pouring at 190-200 and my water bath is at 80 degrees. I don't what could be going wrong. Like i mentioned above I have made these candles before the exact same way. Any suggestions.... Please help!!!
