  1. I've been using the soy votive wax from GL and love it but they recently changed it and I haven't tried the new stuff yet. HTH

I used the old greenleaf also - I tried their new wax and it does not work in clamshells - wouldn't release, frosted bad and lumpy tops. I spoke with Brenda and she is getting back the old stuff which works great in my clamshells.

  2. for the life of me i can not think of a name. i live in louisville, ky and i do bath and body as well as candles. how did youi all come up with your name? thanks machelle

I used the nicknames of my son (munchie) and daughter (beanie) - MunchieBean Candle Company.

  3. Don't know Glo, I have a memory like a sieve, but I've helped a lot of people :D ......I'm in Warsaw, NY and the company is Erie & Niagara. I think it's strictly NY state, but don't know for sure, try a google search and see what comes up.

Just figured it out Glo....you're Connie aren't you??? Yep we know each other LOL!!! I told you I have a memory like a sieve LOL!! :D

I just inquired about product liablility from them today (I am from NY also), and they gave me a "pre-quote" of $250 for $1 Million Product and $5,000 content. I will get the full quote either the end of the day or tomorrow.

So just want to say thanks Chris for the help!

  4. For those of you's that have tried this have you found you needed to wick up on this scent at all? I just got it and would like to start testing it and not sure if I should wick up from my normal wick or not. TIA Cindy/WI

This is a really great scent - I use an eco 6 in an 8 oz jelly jar with this scent (70/30 greenleaf). I use eco 4's and eco 6's and this one needed the eco 6.

    HTH

  5. Your in a tough situation - It depends on how much of a risk taker you are. Starting any business is risky - but you can control the amount of risk you want to take. Almost every business starts off shakey. I really don't have an answer for you - but just look at Bill Gates - started Microsoft from a garage.

  6. Being a sole prop means that you are personally liable. If the amount of insurance you have isn't enough to cover the judgment against you, your assets are at risk. The risk is rather low because there are not many cases where chandlers are sued, but there is still a risk. Having an LLC with liability insurance means that even if the insurance doesn't cover the entire amount of the judgment against you, you personally are not liable for the debts of the LLC. Make sense?

    Makes sense - Thanks.

  7. I'm not a lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

thats pretty funny - I think I need to stay at a Holiday Inn Express...

I did a couple of more tests last night with a single melt - there was some smoking but very little - I let it burn for a while then blew out the tea light and then took the temp of the wax (190 degrees). This seems like it would be ok - since I compared it to a yankee tart burning for the same amount of time and the same wax temp. So could that smoke or steam just be fo realeasing?

I have checked a lot of other websites that sell these and everyone says use one or two.

Now I could also say the the reason for the single pieces is so that you can combine scents 1 of one scent and 1 of another.

  8. When you put on your warning label to use a min. of 2 pieces, tell the customer why or they may think you just want them to use more product.

WARNING!!! Place 2 pieces of wax melts in burner. Using less than 2 pieces can cause smoking and possible fire.

Thanks candle man thats perfect - hows this...

Caution:Failure to follow instructions could result in fire hazard, injury or smoke damage. Place 2 pieces of wax melts in well ventilated, tart approved burner. Using less than 2 pieces can cause smoking and possible fire. Do not add water. Never heat on stove or any non-certified tart appliance. Do not allow flame to touch underside of melt pot. Do not heat if pot contains less than 1/2" of wax. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning melt and/or candle unattended.
