  1. I just signed up w/the Soap Guild - not much more than Brower - plus you could defer payment w/PayPal and pay over 6 mths w/no interest. Brower was my first choice but they don't write in Louisiana and the Soap Guild wasn't that much more - plus you get a few member benefits that I liked - free webstore and discounts w/some vendors I already use.

    Good Luck!

  2. Depends on what you sell. I have insurance through the Handcrafted Soap Maker's Guild. It does cover candles, but only if you do soap, too.

    Thanks!

We do candles, soaps, scrubs, fizzies, lotion sticks ... and I see where it does cover those also. I'll continute to check them out - they're actually not much more than the one I was going to pay for but they couldn't write a policy in Louisiana!

  3. i've just started buying their foaming bath whip - anyone else know where i can get it at a better price? paying $135.48 for 32 lbs. - i've looked around, but w/shipping to louisiana it all comes out the same, if not more but maybe i'm missing someone?

i hate that it takes them 3 days to ship out - i don't like waiting!! lol

  4. Where do you get mass amounts of baby food jars? I searched for places to buy them online last year and didn't find any distributors.

I asked around - put out signs at local OB/GYN's, Pediatrician's - asked day care places - posted on Facebook - got people to spread the word for me and I picked up the jars from different locations.

I asked for a particular size and mostly got what I asked for. I rewashed the jars (you can soak a lot of jars in your tub) and removed the labels and spray painted the lids. I preferred to recycle the jars than buy new ones. Took a little time to gather all that I have, but once people found out about it, I had no problem getting what I needed.

  5. WOW ... I had never heard of this - guess because we don't have a lot of 'in ground' graves down here - water level too high. I had to google to see what y'all were talking about. Some of these are really pretty - and I understand the reasoning behind them.

  6. You can get the absolute basic ones at Hobby Lobby for $3.99 each. They are the candle warmer brand (at least at my local store). You can buy directly from candle warmer for less but you need to take shipping into consideration.

    Thanks for the response!

I was wondering if there would be anything less expensive than the Candle Warmer as they are still priced at $3.50/each + shipping for wholesalers. Not much of a profit to be made on these. I'd just like to offer them as a convenience for customers - but still make some profit!

  7. OK, this is not a candle tip but it relates to your asking about bugs, so I'm going to pass this on in case any of you can use it.

A friend told me today that if you get the original Listerine and spray it around everywhere, it will get rid of skeeters. We are inundated with the little vampires here in the South, but he said he's seen hardly any since he thoroughly sprayed his patio and all around it a week and a half ago. I'm trying this tomorrow night.

  8. here's a thought ... if the water gathers in the gutter won't it just pour over on either the front or the back of the tents - or is the set up a little slanted so it goes down the backside?

You might want to have the front portion a little higher so it creates a slant for the water to drain down the back of the 'tent divide'. Does that makes sense?

  9. ok - I lied :embarasse - I do have another question!

Does anyone spray the mold with anything to get the 'crayons' to come out easier? We had a tough time getting them out - did put them in the freezer for a while - but it was still a task to remove them.

I brought a 'prototype' to work this week and have orders for 12 boxes for next week. Plus we have a craft fair this weekend and we want to bring some along. We'll be up all night trying to get the soap to release from the mold!

    Any suggestions appreciated.

  10. Trish I do shrink wrap each of mine. The .5 oz tube shrink wraps work perfectly. I think I got them from Elements.

that box is sooo cute ... do you print each out yourself? asking cause it must use a lot of ink!!

  11. i buy mine from the local amish store they cut me a deal for buying in bulk.........Laura

unfortunately no amish around here ... only cajuns!! :D

but that's what i'd like to find - someone that sells it in bulk around here. i'd be happy to store 20lbs of the stuff - just no one sells it like that around here - that i've found yet.

  12. If you have a Sam's Club, try there. That is where I buy mine. It was much cheaper than Wally World but I have not bought it or priced in about 2 months so not sure what the cost difference is now.

ok - happened to talk to someone that just bought dry milk at Sam's and said it was still in the $11 range!! I'm headed there tomorrow before they realize they need to raise their price!!

  13. Bumping this up because the first recipe is so good.

I agree!! I love this stuff ... tweek it a little every now and then. Also, for the last craft show I changed the name from Body Lotion Bar to Moisturizing Stick! Sold waaaay better ... :D People don't get the 'lotion' part - they think lotion should be liquid.

Thanks - thought of that, but they are owned by WW company so figured it'd be the same. When I had checked before months ago - it was the same price as WW. So I figured if one went up the other would also.

I'm wondering if anyone has bought from companies like Sysco (serves restaruants) and such.
