  1. The only thing that I can recommend is never shipping on Thursday or Friday - they will need to sit somewhere over a weekend and that is asking for trouble. I just make sure that they are wrapped in bubble wrap and then peanuts all around. Make sure that they are all sitting upright if possible and then put "this side up" arrow on the box. Hopefully if they get soft they will not melt "wrong" like if placed on their sides. Hope that made sense.
  2. I am genuinely trying to help so please do not take this the wrong way but do you wash your jars? I noticed that if I run them through the dishwasher I get less spots. In fact, washing and heating the jars seems to alleviate most of the spots that I was getting. Now sometimes they do come back. Before a big show, I go through my stock and hit the bad ones with a heat gun because although I have embraced them - they still look tacky to me so I do try to keep them to a minimum. Just call me anal - everyone else does
  3. Okay it is www.aburningdesire.com I am in the process of completely redoing the entire thing. I am just so not feeling the pumpkin orange. Someone did the original design for me for free so I am not about to complain but... I want a more upscale look. Please feel free to tell me what you think. Thanx,
  4. Wow a color laser jet?! I have a laser from HP and love it - it is just black and white. About a year ago I got a HP color inkjet, scanner fax and love it as well. I am really happy with HP products. Enjoy the printer.
  5. Does anyone know what size the ones from Big Lots are? Just to be able to price compare - they only had one size at my store but since I sold them all I can not check the volume.
  6. Thank you all for the help. I am excited about carrying these again this year. Last year I only got my hands on 9 of them. I sold 3 to a friend and the others went in the first hour at a craft show. I think that if I get them in time I will add them to my site and see how it goes. Thanx again,
  7. when I grow up I want to be just like you!
  8. Please let me know if you find them. I already have orders.
  9. I know that I should have taken notes but I didn't. Someone listed about 3 sites that carry the pumpkin jars with witches hats. Could someone please list them again. Also, anyone know when Big Lots normally starts stocking them? I would like to avoid shipping charges if I can. Thanx.
  10. This is what a chemist at Astorlite told me about determining the meltpoint - I have never tried but he said that you melt the wax just to the point where it is completely melted. Dip in the thermometer so that the bulb only is immersed for a second - pull out the thermometer and turn it slowly around and around - the temp registered should give you a fairly good idea on the meltpoint. Again - I have not tried this but maybe it is a starting point. HTh,
  11. Oh my - cheaper it is not - just ask my credit card. It is great for airline miles but not much else. I agree with everyone else - get a started kit but beware - this is a passion and it will get you
  12. I am working on trying to get a blend that I like for Candy Cane. I wanted something along this line for the last 2 years and everything I tried just did not throw. Well, this year I finally tried Peaks - I got the peppermint and low and behold - it threw. I know this is no surprise to the veterns that have used Peaks for years but they are new to me. I am trying blends of peppermint and vanilla. Just started so I have no idea if straight vanilla or french vanilla will work better but that is why we spend so much time testing. Also, being the Kumquat queen and all - I am trying blends of Kumquat for the Fall/Holiday season. The ones I have so far are K & spiced cranberry, K & spiced tea, K & crushed ginger and K & pina colada (I know not Fall but hey I was on a roll). We are trying to come up with a Holiday gift assortment.
  13. For Jamaica Me Crazy - I use Coral and it comes out beautifully. I decided to post because it seems like I am the only one. I can not help on the others.
  14. The plastic type cups are made by Solo not Dixie. I have used and like those for the votives. I prefer them over the Dixie cups - seem to be easier to remove.
  15. I personally like the seams on the top and bottom so that I can cover them with my labels. The seams on the sides are very hard to keep straight and I think that they detract from the overall look. It is just my personal opinion - once you start playing you will see what I mean. HTH,
  16. Wow what a nice gift. The size of the skrink wrap tubing depends on the diameter of the pillar. I have 4", 6" and 8". I use the 4 for votives and the 6 for little pots that I do. The 8 is what I use for the wally world hearts. I have not used it for pillars yet. Now I would think that they (the pillars) will sit flat. I know for the votives they do. I would recommend that you start playing with them and here are a few hints. You want the seams on the top and bottom so use the smallest size you can - just remember to leave some room to shrink. Also poke holes so the shrink wrap does not burst. Turn the pillar on it's top. Start heating bottom first - when it has skrunk - turn it completely over. Heat the top. The reason is that the wrap will pull towards the heat source. If you start with the sides the seams will come over to the sides and mess them up - at least I think so. It takes some patience and pratice - I did melt a couple votives when I first started. Just keep the heat source away from the candle and always moving. I hope this helps.
  17. Yes - Thank you so much. I felt so lonely all week not being able to check in with my friends. The new format is going to take some getting used to. I worked hard for my post count and now I am starting over . I could recognize ppl from their post numbers. This is going to be fun. As you reregister - please remember to put a little bit in their about the type of wax, wicks and such you use. I think that this was very helpful - at least when I remembered to look. Welcome Back All,
