  1. I never add anything to palm wax, except for a bit of stearic if it helps in mold release. These waxes don't need anything in theory, besides UV inibhitor as any other wax.

I usually wick with a fb 36 ply. Many uses RRD wicks, or some other wicks designed for vegetable waxes.

Palm waxes requires wicking up because they are harder than paraffin.

    Thanks Sabrina

I know I have RRD Wicks, think I have the 36 Ply, I also have the eco wicks. Yep i'm thinking maybe 3 to 4 tsp of stearic would have done the trick without the palm fat.

Decided i'm not going to melt yet, i'll test some wicks and update later on today with some photo's :)

    Thanks

  2. Thank you all for the advice :D

On my first test I poured at 95 C and added 2 tsp of stearic, but the wax would not come out of the mould, (also heated the aluminium mould), banged it slapped it, put it in the freezer, it just wouldn't give.

I think 2nd attempt with the 4 tsp of stearic and maybe only 2 tsp of the palm fat I would have had better results (and pouring hotter than I did), though I think the result I got (although not great on the photo) looks quite nice DH even liked it! :smiley2: I'm going to remelt and try a higher meltpoint :)

which wick would you recommend with this palm wax? any starting points would be appreciated :)

    This is fun :D

Firstly, Thank you Inez for sending me the samples, very much appreciated. :)

I have only tested the Granite so far, I too had the same problem as Natty (would not come out of the mould ........ tried everything! :undecided - oh well one damaged mould! :smiley2:

Anyways I then tried again (not one to give up:D)

I added 4 tsp of Stearic and 4 tsp of the palm fat ........ aaannd ...... it came out great ...... Love it!! - still need to figure out which type of wick to use .... will post a pic once I have charged up the battery on my camera!

(I ofter read back on things i've written and notice i've spelt such easy words wrong! ..... you're not alone :grin2:

  5. i just got your vanilla macamia yum yum

    Hi

:yay: yes love that one too, didn't realize you were from CT when I sent it ....... would have popped in a free sample ;) I'll be getting a lot of oils made here in the UK soon so prices will come down but will take some time testing so will be a while - I will be on the look out for a tester too ;)

  6. thanks Gaynor' date=' thats roughly $110 ish.

Hi Stella, yep I tried that but didn't have the starting zip code :(

theres a lovely looking auction on ebay, but its so much stuff the box weighs 25lb lol. Lady was looking into postage but so far had only found global express at $300.[/quote']

UPS will cost a fortune! - USPS is your best bet:rolleyes2 - think the quote was $102 so a little less:yay: not sure what the conversion rate is a the mo, just roughly guessed the price.

  7. Hi NattyCat

I totally agree with you, I don't know how some ebayers make a profit, that is either selling candle supplies or candles, but I guess it all comes down to quality and I have seen you're website and I can say it shouts quality! :yay: and being a buyer and seller all I want is the best quality, the best burning candles! I would rather pay more and get better quality.

I hate the ebay feedback system, I had some buyer put down (in the feedback score .... silly star sytem) disptatch time was a little slow!!! I post that day or the next!! really gets to me I go out of my way, not that I've had a neg but those damn stars ...... I hate them!!!

On a final note....... I thought I had addictions ...... but not a fraction as you have :lipsrseal

  8. Thanks ubure and natty. I'll be PMing you both once I get settled in our new apartment. Now if I could just get used to working in a kitchen 1/2 the size. Although, I should count myself lucky to find an apartment in Germany that even has a kitchen! :whoohoo:

I would love to go back and visit Germany, I was born in Hanover ;)

Lived in Dusseldorf and Dortmund (not sure if spelt that right sorry)
