How many oils are too many, I have a awesome recipe but it takes 8 oils and 1 butter, is this too many for a bar of soap? In other words, how many is the average usage of oils in a recipe, or is there one? I have a base recipe I like but I want something more conditioning and every recipe I tried running in the lye cal never came out with high enough number till finally I got a perfect batch of soap but it takes 8 oils! Just trying to get a average # of oils most use!

OMG, after reading this post I ordered the 6 pack, they came today and already made 2 batches of soap and much say its the best ever!!! I did have more success when I used the stick blender to blend it rather than by hand, but WOW the colors are so very vivid!!!

I am trying to find a supplier for the plastic black cups with lids, the plastic container ones, like you would put food storage in but smaller, not sure what they are called, ? Does anyone know of a supplier? Looking for the 1 or 2 oz size, clear or prefer the black ones with clear lids

I am in Indiana and wanted to purchase some 8oz square mason jars, is there someplace close to purchase these? Can I get them at walmart? LOL, I always try walmart first but really need some of these jars close by to save on shipping!

So you change the setting in the soapcal calculator where it says lye concentration to say 33% then calculate it?

I love my goat milk salt bars, its one of favorite scents, I made it as normally for a salt bar, I add my GM in last, not with the lye mixture and its soaps and lathers lovely, I also add oatmeal milk and honey fragrance to mine and YUM!! I do not notice much a a difference in mine but I love salt bars, I never shave without them anymore!

Not sure how or why I did this but I had some amethyst color from tkbtrading, its lip, eye, face and nail approved, so I for some reason thought it would be fine in my soap, well I made a batch and it shows no color at all, so I go to clean up a small spill with a rag and the rag turns purple, now why is my soap not purple? Will it change as it gels and sets up? Its like magic soap! Btw, this is the powdered cosmetic form:o

just redid it again the same way except did not let the oils sit all night and it was better this time, still thick but not as thick, and I did leave them on my washer right by the air vent so must have gotten them way too cold! Thanks everyone, I thought I was going crazy!!! Or worse ruined a batch of soap

no this was all before fragrance and no water discount, not sure what happened than! here is the recipe RBO 20% PKO 20% OO 15% Crisco 25% Coconut 15% Steric 5% Soap qualities 45 22 49 22 22 Iodine 63 INS 144 water 517 g lye 191 g

I got it to trace the minute I mixed the oil and lye, I have always superfatted at 5% and I decided to try it at 6 to see if there is a difference, I mixed everything up separate the night before and this morning went to mix the lye and oils and the minute it hit, it started to get real thick, not ricing but like a heavy trace but some of the oils did not want to mix in, I kept hitting it with the SB and finally it mixed, poured it at a heavy looking trace and in one hour it was ready to cut, still soft but manageable. Now my question is, is this normal? I have never had this happen before with this recipe it normally takes a normal trace time and never ready to cut so soon, did I do something wrong to it?

I love tihs mold and traded one of mine a while back on the forum for it, now want another one but not sure what they are called or where they are made, could someone help me out please sorry picture may be big and mold is dirty did not clean it up after last batch
