Thanks! I was a parasoy user and considering the coconut waxes. I’ve been doing some early morning reading. What is the deal with soy? Is it GMO issues or what? 

It has been a long time since I’ve been on this board but I’m glad to be back. I took a hiatus from my candle business but I’m looking to start back. Boy, some things have changed.  

I have a lot of reading to do! 

I used to use Peak but decided to use CS because they are closer, but I will say that Peak's requires a smaller %.

Too many things about your email scream scam to me. And to jump through hoops for 50-100 candle order? I'd pass.

When I smell patchouli, I smell dirt/earth. When I smell Pink Sugar I get the musk (which I like). Amish Harvest is one of my personal favorites because I like spicy. But I think if I had to find a scent that everyone has liked, it would have to be something simple like Apple.

I disagree. I held my Open House (5 years) at my house the first Sunday in December. My take home was approximately $800 - $1000 for a 4 hour open house. I had a nice array of food and it was enjoyable for everyone. I made gift baskets with parents in mind for teacher gifts and kept them under $20. Nothing I sold was over $30 and I got wiped out, with rarely anything left. I'm not sure orders are the way to go, I think cash & carry works best.

I use 6% for my tarts too (parasoy). That scent works best with a lower percentage in my opinion.

I bought a 2 lb. pour pot, but prefer my 4 lb. The 4 lb. spout is more narrow, which is good for pouring. A word of advice, try not to pour wax close to your burners on the stove. I used to do the double boiler method, presto pot is the way to go. It also looks like you used aluminum foil to protect your cabinets. Try wax paper, because you could also use that to do your color test, too.

Payment up front. Upon established timely payment/order would I ever consider net 30. You sell a product, not a service. Therefore, payment due NO later than on delivery.

I would do scents for Jan - December. Also include Birthday Cake for Birthday, Bayberry for New Year's, Christmas Tree for Christmas, Apple Pie for 4th of July, Rose for Valentine's Day, Chocolate for Easter, Cranberry for Thanksgiving and Candy Corn for Halloween.

Candle Science, Peak, Aztec have always been reasonable to me. But I don't buy heavy items, just FOs. (I pick up jars/wax locally). I'm only a few states away from CS and AZ but Peak being clear across the US has always been fair.

Just a suggestion, but if you have a lot leftover, host a home show at your house. Great way to get rid of extra product and socialize.

I don't carry a vanilla bean, but I do like Cinnamon Stix from Candle Science.

I have vanilla bean noel from Aztec that I haven't poured, but that has more of a carmel note to it.

In my area, craft shows do the the best in the fall/early Xmas season. Church, school, etc. If I were doing an Oktoberfest event, I would go heavy on the pumpkin, spicy, outdoor scents. If people are having a good time, etc., they want something to remind them of that event. I can't see Lilac being a big seller when there are hayrides, etc. Good luck!

I personally think you can do better than C&S. The scents you are looking at are not complex. I have always found C&S oils to be diluted and weak. Sorry.

I refuse to go hunting for scents for a customer, long time or not. I will suggest other scents that may be in that family, but I won't go from supplier to supplier to find something for one customer. Not good business. When I started in 2005/2006 I wanted to make everyone happy. I lost money that way. It's all about my profit margin now. I won't buy from several suppliers, etc. either.

What I will do, is if I see a lb. of something in the classies, and I test it, it's a limited time only fragrance. But that's it. I've narrowed my suppliers to 3. One for wax/jars, the other two are for FOs.

Why are you using vybar?

You will be surprised how fast 20 lbs of wax goes. Have fun, try to find suppliers close to you and look on the classified ads. You can try other suppliers without big shipping costs, etc.

I have parasoy melts/candles and I did not notice any difference in their scent at all. I actually used some Chestnt & Brown Sugar melts from 3 years ago and smelled great. They were stored in my bedroom closet, so no exposure to extreme temps, etc.
