  1. No no no...Im not worried about people buying dollar store candles....the other post was right, they are great for power outages! The thing that was confusing was how they could sell it so cheap. I know our products we sell on here are a total different ballgame:highfive:

  2. I get what you are saying...however, I went to a dollar store and saw a sign that says "if you need a bigger quantity that is on our shelves we can get more whenever you want all we need is the product code"......Things have to sell out sometime...so what do they do then????

  3. Do you ever wonder how dollar stores sell 8 oz candles for a dollar? I mean I know they dont have hardly any fo, but I mean even if I get truckloads my jars plus shipping are almost that price! But the thing that gets me...is you know the dollar store is making money off of the candle too...I dont know, im just blabbing.......HOW?????

  4. I started my first couple by friend knowing friends that owned their own business....then to the pavement! If you have a good product...word will get out and then you just sit back and let them come to you( in time....and lots of it) Atleast for me:grin2: Good Luck!

  5. I was in your boat about a month ago.....seriously, dont change the name! That's what people love about it. You are going to get some customers that look at it and frown, but they are not too many of those.....Then you will have the ones that will buy it for gag gifts and some that even like the scent! ( I do) I have done really well with it. Oyeah...and dont forget that it is probably going to be a better seller in the summer!Good luck!:grin2:

  6. I don't use any of the info out there about soy.

All I say about my soy candles is they will burn with little to no soot when burned properly (fact) and can burn longer than paraffin (statement). As far as I know, from the info stated from where I buy my wax, the sow wax I use comes from American farmers so I also state helps the American soy bean farmers (fact, as far as I know).

I have to say that the whole "longer burning" thing is a bunch of BS myself! I was hearing all the "great" things about soys candles.....so I bought one for myself. (I use paraffin) My candle lasted a lot longer than the soy candle.O yeah, and as for the scent throw(may not have anything to do with it, but just for the record) it blew that triple scented soy candle right out of its boots!I will never bash anyones products. In fact I have a good friend of mine that makes soys candles. When someone asks me if my candles are soy....I send them to her! No one is right and no one is wrong. Everyone has different opinions! so lets just keep our mouths shut and sell our own wonderful smelling products!:highfive:

  7. I find it offensive. Prove the cancer crap to me and tell me the reason why you use it? So we can take this one at a time, but there's not even a reason to bring it up is there? Yet, you do.

Soy wax is not a natural by-product. Do you think they squeeze the bean to get the wax? It doesn't just peal off the bean either. It's manufactured to get the wax from what's left of the product once the farmers harvest them, but the wax is a minute portion of soybean growing in the US.

I don't buy the expanded burn time either. I think that's a joke.

Good to know that there is now a gas fireplace issue out there.

You did forget that using soy wax will keep your Mona Lisa's from losing that smile ... :tongue2:

    Thats good stuff!

  8. I do uderstand the whole part of the "fun" of candlemaking.....I have been doing the "fun" part for 4 going on 5 years now. I am also not looking for this machinery that will cover a football feild either.I just want something to help me produce larger quantities to make "new" customers happy too! O and about the quality product.....same wax.same oil.same jar.color.etc...... so I can promise that no one will notice ( unless I go and blab my big mouth about my new toy...:D )

  9. I was wondering if there are any bulk candle makers on this website? I am talking about big machinery people. I have a warehouse and we are doing well, however, I am to the point where I phyically cant pour the amount of candles that I need to supply my demand......(good thing) What I was wondering if anyone has a machine they use that makes big bulk candlemaking easier. I have checked on conveyer belts but they are outragous in price! Any suggestions on decent priced equipment????BTW I use J223 wax...if that helps.

One more thing...Has anyone seen or use the sqirt gun filler? ( I thinkink its called EZ filler or something?!?!) If so, do you like it?Is it easy to use. Thanks you guys!:highfive:

  10. I started making candles for Christmas gifts in 2003.Then when people came back for more, my mom and I were thinking, "huh", "what"?!?!So we started making them to sell as a hobby.......NOW......We finally got out of my kitchen and we have a warehouse, store, and even an office!I am so excited!!!:yay: I just wanted to thank everyone who has answered some of my off the wall questions! You guys are great! Wish me luck.....

  11. I just recieved an order and I purchased the wrong FO.(my fault!) However I like the scent! ALOT!! Its a floral Bird of Paradise. The problem is that I already have a bird of paradise. The two scents are TOTALLY different!......So I was wondering if someone can help me think of a cute name (something that is way different from any ordinary FO name.)Thanks you guys!:D
