  1. Hi...does anyone know of a supplier that carries 16 Oz. Round Jars with Gold Lids. They are called Round Salsa Jars from the supplier that I usually get them from, but they have been out of stock for a long time. I have looked all over for these jars but cannot seem to find them. The dimensions are 3.25"Dia x 4.25" Tall. I have a bunch of orders to fill from people who want these jars...but I cannot find them!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
  2. I am having touble finding a wax for Pillar candles that is 100% soy wax? Do any of you know of a good one? Everything that I find for pillars seems to be a blend and I cannot tell what it all contains. Is the NatureWax P-1 100% soy? If so, do any of you know of a supplies that carries this product? Thanks
  3. Have any of you tried the CB-127b 100% Soy Container Wax? If so, what kind of results have you had with this wax and how would you compare it to the NatureWax C-3.
  4. Well, i have only been using one type of container. I have been thinking of trying something else to see if it has an effect. One thing I just recently figured out...I think the cold weather affects the frosting. I have some candles that I left in my car over night and it was pretty cold outside and they all frosted really badly. But, the ones in the house were fine! Winter weater sure creates a problem in my candle making...when it was really cold I was having serious problems with sink holes. But I remember, when I started making candles in the summer I did not have all these problems. Hmmm... By the way, where can you get the EVO colors? I have not seen that line before. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for all the suggesstions. Yeah...I have not really had anyone complain about it and I do not mind the way it looks...sometimes. Sometimes it just looks really weird and really just bothers me! It will do it on the top and then down just 1 side of the jar. Or it will frost at the top and then have big white circles on top of the light frosting. But...I guess it is just not as big of a deal as I am making it Thanks!!!
  6. I am about to make pillar candles for the 1st time. I was wondering what you all think is the best 100% soy wax for pillar candles. For my containter candles I have been using NatureWax C-3, so I was thinking of using the P-1 for the pillars...but I have not really heard much about that wax. Do any of you recommend that or is there another one that is better? Also, are there any tips or things that I need to know when making pillar candles. Thanks in advance for all your help!!
  7. I am interested in making lotions and possibly bath salts that are all natural and vegan-friendly (no animal by-products or animal testing). Does anyone have any resources for finding the supplies needed for this? Thanks
  8. Well...from my previous post, I guess the problem I am having with my candles is frosting. It has started to get alot worse and I do not know why. I am using the same wax, oils, & dyes...so I am not sure what the problem is. I make containter candles and use NatureWax C-3. The dyes I use are an eco-friendly dye that my supplier offers, but I am not sure the specific brand or anything. I do not want to put any chemical additives in my candles, so as I see it I have 2 options: find a new dye product line or do something to make the frosting look like it is supposed to be like that. My questions are: 1. Do any of you know any reputable companies where I can get natural, environmentally friendly dyes. 2. Do any of you have any suggestions on different candle making techniques that can help to make the frosting look "natural" or make the frosting more difficult to notice, but without any chemical additives? Thanks and sorry for the long posts!
  9. Hi everyone...I am trying to make my candle business into my career. I am fairly new to the business, but have the opportunity to really develop it right now and was wondering if any of you could give me any tips or suggesstions on different ways/places to market candles. I already have a small client base, and I have my candles in 2 different retail locations. I will be trying to add more locations soon. I have tried a couple craft fairs with mixed success. One was right before Christmas and was great...the other wasin November and I did not even make enough to cover the booth fees (which was only $50). So, I am a little unsure of pursure more of those right now. Do any of you have any ideas that you would not mind sharing. I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I am in need of a new website but I am not sure where to go to find a good quality, yet somewhat inexpensive place to go. Any suggestions on good places for web hosting and/or design. One last thing...I have heard of people doing pretty good with fundraisers. How do you get involved with fundraisers? I do not have any friends with kids or anything...so I do not have any links to schools or organizations for kids. So, I do not really know how that works. I would greatly appreciate any adivce you all could give me. Thanks!!!
  10. Thanks...do you have any suggestions on how to go about drafting a contract?
  11. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on getting store to carry your candles. If they have agreed to carry them, do you have them buy a quantity upfront and then they can resell them as they wish. Or, do you leave a supply, then go back and take inventory and have them pay you for what has sold. If you do the latter, what profit split do you use. Also, if a store has agreed to carry your products, do you bring any thing for them to sign, stating the nature of the agreement? Thanks
  12. Hi everyone...I am new here and fairly new to making candles. I have a question. I currently make container soy candles and use Cargill NatureWax C-3. I am trying to make candles that are as natural/healthy as possible. I have been having some problems with color fading. After a few days to a few weeks, the colors in my candles start to fade...really, they start to get that mottled, snowflake kind of look so maybe color fading is not my problem. It is usually at the top and then sometimes it fades down one side of the candles. I know that there is a UV Stabalizer I could add, but I cannot find what this product is made of and I am leary of using any additives. Do any of you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks!
