  1. This is how i do milk soap as i never had any luck with mixing the lye and the milk. I only use powdered milk, works with any kind of milk. I take about 20% off the amount of water i need and make a nice paste with the milk. mix the lye with the remaining water. make the soap and and add the milk paste at trace.
  2. I believe you need to heat your containers and to pour as slowly as you can. If you don't have a pouring pot, buy one. Normal pots do not allow you to control your pour
  3. Thanks for the replies. Because i live in Senegal (west africa) i can't get access to any of the wax you guys talk about but i do have access to a high melt point wax (155 F) and that's what i am using. I have not try a votive in the hurricane yet cause my focus now is on making one where no wax is sticking to the mold.
  4. Thanks. i will try the tip about dipping the pic in hot wax and see how it goes.
  5. I guess it will depend on what you want to use it for. I use the heat gun to shrink wrap my soap and now that i started playing with hurricanes, it serve to heat the mold. For what i use it for those temp works very well. I know people shrink wrap pillar but i only do container so can't help with that. Don't really the relationship between the heat gun and the fragrance oils.
  6. I can't seem able to do a photo hurricane to save my life and here i was thinking about introducing them at a market i have to do in may. The first one i did had too much wax on the pics so came back here and read more. Now i don't have that problem anymore but the wax on the pic keeps sticking to my mold. My reading today turn out tips about making sure that the mold was really clean and checking the temp of the water bath, will try that tonight but in the meantime will appreciate any tip you may have. Thanks a lot. BTW, i use straight paraffin wax with 1tsp of UA per pound. I am still trying to find micro locally. So far no luck
  7. I have read a lot of good reviews about Peak so you may want to give them a try. I used to buy my oils from Longwycks but the business was sold to Rustic Essentials (sp) and i also read so good reviews on that company.
  8. Hello A search to learn how to make hurricane brought me to this site. I live in Senegal and have been making container candles for the past 3 years. I order some hurricane molds and i just got them. This is actually the first time i am ordering mold from the US so i was a little lost when i saw a seam line on the mold. My question is since i am pretty sure that line will appear on the candle, how do i get rid of it? TIA
  9. If you don't have the product with you, you can't sell so bring as many as you can. First ever show i did, i sold most of my products on the first day of a two days show and spend the second day giving brochures to people, not funny.
